Its pretty interesting reading about how the salt affects the size of these crabs down there. In addition to being larger crabs they seem to be heart’er too.

Nice crab,we have been crabing in cape may a few times this summer but 6 inches is a big crab for us. We are thinking of coming down to Maryland next weekend and camping at elks neck state park and crabing near by with our 14 footer. Would this be a good area or are there places to camp near the chester or wye rivers? Do you need a permet to crab with hand lines only?

Elk river is gonna start slowing down w/ all this cool weather. You don't "need" a license, but w/o one, you'll only be allowed to keep 2 dozen. As far as camping near the Chester or Wye, not sure. maybe someone else will chime in. IMO, further south will be the place to go for crabs with this wx...
