I shot down to Reeds Beach Sun. morning. Bay was like glass.A couple guys fishing the jetty. I'm a lifelong boat fisherman. Never really fished the beach and only an occasional jetty. My questions to you guys who do fish this area for bass:1.when does it usually start? 2.best at low light, night?.3.bait of choice, bloods?, clam? 4.any weakfish later? Thanks in advance.

Hey mike,
I fish there when not in the boat.I had good success in the past around mid-april striper fishing.I was using bloods and then later in the month,i would go down there with some chunks of bunker...As for the weakfish, shedder crabs work the best.Last year wasn't that great for weakies, but if the weakies are around that's a good spot!!!!For the time of day,Anytime you can get down there, usually incoming tide!!!....Hope that helps you!!! ;)

I was there Sat, my friend took me for a ride but I can't get out and walk very far yet. So I am dying to know is that a red bouy can banging against the jetty on the down beach side?

Caught my two largest trout off the jettie at Reed's Beach (12# &11#) it was a sunny spring afternoon, one within 5 minutes of the other, they both slammed a piece of crab and took off for Fortsecue. Ebb tide probably has the edge when fishing around the rocks, but I fish when I have the time, tide, wind and moon don't affect me when I'm on a quest. Did well on bloods with bass there too, no real trophies but they were a lot of fun.

Got a report of a couple of big strippers caught there this past Saturday in the early AM. This could be a sign of things to come, yes yes??
P.S. Reporter said cut bait was used, not bloods.

wanderer,

Capt. Lew,
if I get real thirsty I can always stop by a guy I know who lives just off Hand Ave. He ALWAYS has plenty of snapple! ;)

Sparker,
Glad to see you're back on the Barn.
I'll be contacting you when they start biting, I'd like to get you out in the Rips. Maybe we could hook up with Brian (Mako) again.
Stay tuned for my reports from the beach...any day now. :D
