It started today and already they blew a hole in the pipe. They had to fix it and start again. That's why in the first place they messed up.

It seems improbable that the State with a deficet in the hundred of millions would spend money tp dredge that creek. I realize that this is a State Marina but why not wrap the show up there and put the Operation in the Maurice River. The river has the proper depth and the mouth of the river has enough depth to alllow the passage of Oyster Boats that I'm sure draws more water than the party boats at the Fort.Do we as taxpayers spend our dollars on a project that will just fill in again while the Maurice remains open compliment of Nature.I don't have anything against the Fort, but why throw money on something that is just going to be a continual repeat cycle. What do you think? smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

you raise some good points however,... Everytime they dredged, they dropped the ball and didn't plan the cure just right. This time after the dredge, the Army Corp of Engineers will take the money already alotted out years ago and construct a rock jetty out to the turn bouy or there abouts. With this in place that will stop the northern migration of sand that seems to find its way in the deep channel. If they don't do this then it is just dumping money down the toilet.

Now that makes SENSE!!!!!They did the same thing at the mouth of the Maurice. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

I would still do whatever it takes to keep the Fort going, we need all the facilities we can get.
But I like Shinyo's idea, a state marina on the Maurice might work.
Isn't Four Star up for sale ?

THE PROBLEMS FROM THAT ARE SURFACING AT LONGREACH WHERE THE INSIDE AND SOME OUTSIDE SLIPS FILL UP WITH SILT TOWARD THE END OF THE SEASON. BEFORE THEY STARTED THAT PROJECT ON THE ENTRANCE LONGREACH NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM.

Moey is there! If the job was done the right way with "the Captains assiciation watching over while the dredge was done a few years ago, we would not be talking about it now. We seem to have kids that grew up riding their bikes behind the spray trucks that fogged the roads for mesquiteoes? They are the ones that can't think! let alone organize a plan! jmo. based on facts at the Fort!.

theres no reason why the fort shouldn't get the job done, they paid taxes for years like anyone elese..
maybe they shouldn't use a micky mouse drege co. with half worn out junk.they should had been out of there zip bap bop*gees you think they were dredging the dang ship channle
and if they don't get their jetty why don't you boaters and charter boys start your own,i bet at the end of one season you'd have a heck of a rock pile,or tow one or two of the half sunk oyster boats up there, from the maurice. bring back the good ole days...who needs state money,

You both make a strong base for counter-arguments! neitherwhich will gain ground. Some people like to talk about the Fort's history? Well History is made today and when the wrong decisions are made or lack of, then you have a basis like you gentlemen have now! To start with, The marine Police would not be where they are in location today if it wasn't for all of the Speakeasy's and drunks at the Fort! The State Police had all plans to locate into the Fort. I give you after reading this why it was fought hard to keep them out??? You lose it took you more than a split second to think! Now Reutgers was going to locate a center right across the creek in the Fort for the study of "Oysters"! I give you one plit second for a guess what group of people shot this down ENNNNNNNN! took you to long! The story keeps repeating on any change for the better for the FORT! I bet If someone wanted to open a bar, ...never mind it took you less than a NANO second to answer that. What's the cure? Start electing people that are not school teachers and MEN/Women with BALLS! Change would then move faster than hemroids growing on Teachers

Treatment is needed, whether it be a beer or "steroid" problem. Is BALCO located in Bay Areas other than San Francisco?  ;)

The dredge is across from Double A marina, sitting silent except for one diesel running I don't know what that one motor is for, prolly a pump or something.
At high water I ran out of the creek I looked at my depth finder it was 14.5 feet. Just about where they were dredging last week and at low water coming in it was 7.5 feet in the mouth just before Double A. Not sure how deep they are going to make it, anyone have any ideas'?
The name on the dredge is "Barneget Bay Dredge" it look's like a pretty old machine. One word of caution .... watch out for their pontoons, there is no flags or lights on them!!!!! Just in case anyone decides to run out at night!!!! ( not that there are anyone going out that I know of) But if someone does keep an eye out for them!!!!

But when I hit the add reply button, the Boss had shut down the Barn. Now I can't remember a thing of what I wrote at that time.
So, with the modernized version of the Barn, lets start out on the best of terms. Yeah!! I know it won't be as much fun. We can become non-functional again next winter. Otherwise, I have the best (or closest thing to a) lawyer at the Fort!! :D
Dang, I have to keep removing smilies because Windy used so many in his post.

Guys, trust me when I tell ya I really would luv to watch ya all beat the stuffing out of each other over the "issues" at the FORT...but not here at the BARN! I'd rather see ya do it in a Cage Match or maybe even the Octagon.
The BARN is an all quiet, amicable, at peace, bloodless, calm, collected, composed, constant, easeful, equable, gentle, halcyon, harmonious, irenic, level, mellow, neutral, neutralist, nonbelligerent, nonviolent, pacifistic, peace-loving, peaceable, placatory, placid, quiet, restful, serene, smooth, sociable, steady, still, tranquil, undisturbed, unruffled, untroubled, without hostility kinda place ;)
Do me a favor and restore my faith in the human race by keeping this debate somewhat civil. TWIND'S and I are still on our "offseason" vacation. We're not ready for this stuff yet...LOL!
Now fight nice...please smile.gif

Biggest, I read up on your Horse and saw nothing on his being gelded. Was "he" born that way. Don't interfere here Windy! I would take Big Red in a match race. My ignorance on Kelso was due to serving my sentence in solitary at State Penn. smile.gif
