Just be careful around the crab pots You should try trolling the Chesapeake  . Ever try to take remove two umbrella rigs and two tandem rigs from crab pot rope in a ripping current? It ain't easy :( .
the 16th of may i'm going down to the chesapeake for stipers & we are trolling. i will post the results

I have trolled the Chespeake with great results and have mostly used umbrella rigs and shads. I was told by a local baitshop that nobody trolls the Dela. Bay but from what I see here that wasnt true.
Ya just gotta love pulling in those crab pots. HAPPY DAYS.

Jim, that's the nice thing about the Bawugna... You can troll at 3/4 throttle ;)
Seapro welcome. You see very few anglers trolling out there compared to other areas but it is done, and with success by those who know how.
There is plenty of structure and the crab pots are really not all that bad when the stripers are in.
I would suggest a look at the chart and you'll see what I mean. The only problem you're going to have is everyone yelling at you for barging through their chum lines. They will all be anchored on the structure you want to troll unfortunately.

I say let'em yell when the troll bite is on there is nothing better that I have seen on the bass but only when it's on last year wasnt that good but the year before was outstanding!!!!

I troll the bay every fall for stripers. I've had some great success. I use two wire outfits and two rods with stretches on them. I'll use anywhere from the 25's to the 10's.
I usually put umbrellas on the wire. The lavender shad bodies have produced the best for me and I'll put a school bus yellow bomber on the center.
I've had varying success with bunker spoons.
Email me if you want to know anything else.

Trolling the upper Chesapeak bay (Susqhana flats area) is a great area to catch spring stripers during the catch and realease season. Usually they are all VERY LARGE Cows.....I use the big rattle traps or large shad bodies and in the deeper channels, the stretches work well. If anyone wants to try this great fishery, I have a commercial / Charter liscence for the boat so no out of state guy's need to worry about a liscence. There's always room for one more on my boat.....shoot me an email if anyone wants to get a trip up.

In the past I usually trolled between 6-9 rods pulling mostly umbrellas with white and chart shad between 6" and 9" bodies working the deeper chanels back and forth in a zig zag pattern and I hope it works well here also. Hopefully not to many crab pots in the deeper channels.

Yes that many. It all depends on the depths you are fishing each rod and the layout of the rods on the boat. I start with the longest lines first and move from left to right setting them. You never stop trolling even if you have one on. I leave one rod holder open and move rods around while moving to prevent fish from tangling the other lines. So far I have never got lines crossed up yet. To me the secret is to take your time and dont get in a hurry. When one is on nothing beats the sound of the clicker going crazy. Good luck to all have a save fishing season.

Ten million bunker in the bay , pulling spoons will never work ,lol . Point is pulling spoons and stretches is a lot of work , especially when its crowded . Throwin the hook and chuckin , thats how us lazy jersey boys do it .
