Well, since we got soaked on Mon., i decided it was time for some bibs. Seems like everyone and their brother, have the Grundens. Are there any other brands that are pretty good, or just stick with the grundens? Also, where is a good place to pick these up at? Also, beings i'm 6'2", do they make them for taller folks, or are they special order deals?

you can get carhartts for half the price. the quality may not be quite as good as grundens and you won't be part of the in crowd but I have had mine for 3 years and they have been great.

Oh and I'm 6'1" and length hasn't been a problem- you can always adjust the should straps to lower them a little

Guy cotton shark trousers. They are cheaper then grundens and just as good. My dad used to wear them on a king crab boat in alaska, so you know they are good. Tackle direct carrys them.

I have used Helly Hansan for about 7 years now, They are a bit less expensive than Grundens.
Also be shore to get Hi-Vis collor and not the moss green, just to be safe, the green is to hard to see in Jersey waters should you fall over.

I have seen advertisements for coveralls from Bluefin that look interesting. Has anyone tried these on? One is called "Racing Pants" and another one called "Racing Evolution Long John." They ain't cheap! Much more expensive than Grundens bibs. They are waterproof and breathable (probably would be more comfy than the usual bibs), and have zippered pockets (wish my Grundens had a pocket or two).

They may be too yuppy to actually get fish blood on!

grundens i have the really thin light weight ones i think their called the petrus model... sell for around 70 bucks n they keep u completly dry.
another thing ill wear is my snowboard gear. sno pants and jacket are waterproofed so the water just beads off. but the grundens are good b/c they dont retain fish oil/blood, the snowboard pants will

What size works at 6'2"? My current pair of bibs are on the way out after many years. Once I had them on tailgating in the snow at an Eagles game and they got torched by a propane heater. Patched them up.

I have Guy Cottons at Sea Gear in Cape May. I wanted them in White and grudens didn't
carry them. I love them and have had no problems. as far as I'm concerned they are no different then grudens

Everyone on my boat uses Bimini foul weather gear. VERY heavy like Grummans. We got ours in the tackle shop at shark river for $40. A freind of mine does Geoprob(drilling) and wears his every day and are still going strong after two years.

Helly Hansen, Grundens, what ever set you buy take care of them and they will last.
I have both sets and rotate wearing them and have had both pairs 5 years now.

and really couldn't ask for more the heavy commercial stuff is about $50 each for tops and bottoms. Check them out. I also really like the pull over lined model to stay completely warm and dry.

Got the Carhartts... Pretty nice with a reasonabel price! If your not out there every week like myself it might be the way to go. I picked jacket and bibs for around 80 bucks from this site.

I also know that some area Dicks sporting goods stores carry them as well and they make them in various sizes

I have a set of Grundens, but they are the waist pants and pullover top. They are lined, and have neoprene wrists so the water and winds stays out, and I only wear them in the early and late season as they are lined and plenty warm. Watertight as a frogs azz. Great for the jetties too if I don't want waders.

I go with Gortex stuff when the temp is above 60 and layer up, while my friends are sweatin like pigs in their grundens.... different gear for different conditions.
