Dog boy
welcome to the barn.
They are good eating, do a search on this forum and you will see some recent topics about them.

NJ law : They must be more than 48 inches from head to tail and limit is 2 per boat in NJ waters

48" snout to tail and I think you can keep 2. I have read here that they are good to eat if you clean them immediatly ( gut them) fill the cavity ice and then pack them in ice. I think that is what I read but I am sure someone else will respond to your post. Make sure you can handle one of legal size in your boat, they can make a mess not to mention bite anything in site including you. I landed a legal one earlier this year & I don't think I'm going to try it again. They have a nasty mouthful of teeth. I hope this helps.

dogboy,
Just be sure that it is a brownie and not another type of shark, mainly a sand tiger before you go and whack it.

Also,
Delaware has much more stringent laws, so depending on your port and location on the water, be sure of the laws

Good luck and be safe
