The Calender Said Spring,But the Conditions I
Found over the Weekend Still Said Winter.......
I Fished The Ocean Co. Area,Wetting A Line for
the First Time This Year Looking For Some
Striper's..I had some good Out-Going Water but
it was still cold (40Degrees)and Dirty from the
Previous Days Snowy Weather....
But It Was Good To Get Some Casting In from over
a 2 Month Layoff,I wasn't expecting too much
throwing some New Storm Lures,I really just wanted
to break in My New St.Croix 8'Tidemaster and I
wasn't dissapointed on how it felt....
I did find that the Winter Flounder Bite Is Still
On around the area,Most Boaters Getting Out During
The Breaks In Those HighWinds managed some nice
catches over the weekend.. And Around A WarmWater
Discharge some Local Short Stripers Have Been
Caught.....
We Should Get A WarmUp in the Water Temps This
Week with over night lows staying above freezing
and with some Sunshine during the day will make
conditions more favorable for a Striper Bite...
Action South of the Del.Bay is still pretty quiet
also, but April is just 11 days away, and that really is my offical start to the New Season..
Can't Wait....

Fished Sunday the 21st near CISP. Put a couple of hours in from about 12:30-2:30 and caught the bottom of the tide. Fished blood worms on a fishfinder rig. Complete skunk but still nice to be outside and have some peace and quiet.

I "rivered it " last night. Actually ran into some Herring. Perhaps the sunlight won out yesterday and the push upstream is getting stronger.
If I had said which river would that have ruffled any feathers?? I have taken some heat for mentioning inlets and sounds, but they seem like areas to me???

Spent a few hours fishing bloods from the beach in Cape May area on Saturday. W**d was brutal. I had one good run-off but didn't hook up (too slow on hook set). Pulled a couple of skates after that. But it sure felt good to be out there!!!

Started out shopping and eating in Cumberland County. Had a little action, Sports Glasses for my son and dinner @ a undisclosed resturant south of Vineland. I spent the rest of Saturday night sleeping in Atlantic County with no action. Gotta try a nicer resturant next time.Hopefully the action gets better next week!
Strikes! Was that OK? :D

Fished the OC/Longport area tonight for an hour or so. The air was very cold and the layers of fleece I got from sig. other for Christmas really worked well smile.gif
Threw the usual plugs, tried out a new spool of PPro 15 lb. -- not bad...
Water was moving moderately fast, dirty, no sign of life...
Nice crisp night though....

While strolling the waters at the Cape May County / Atlantic County border last night, I came across HERRING!!!! Yes, first spotting of them in water of higher salienity content. They are here guys. Beautiful sight in the clear water. They were schooled nicely. Making their characteristic sardine like flash as they passed me by. I often imagine a diver underwater looking back at me and snapping a polaroid. They were small, 3-4 inchers, I once heard that the larger ones follow, then the bass.

Hit the Del bay in the boat. Man that water has some obsticals in it i cant wait for the back bay to open up. Found some high winds and fish though. Had 2 cat fish and 2 striper which i enjoyed seeing caught by the others on the boat. Other angler were out and had better luck with a 28 incher and a 32 incher. was good to see them being caught and the choice of bait was the 7.00 dollar for a dozen blood worms.

I just talked to my buddy down here in md. He said they were killing stripers at the Bay Bridge today on blood worms. 4 hours of straight catching then the park closed and booted him out. They should be on here real soon!

Did a yak attack last night. Two bridges worth of casting and not a touch. Incoming tide, was cold.
I'll be winter flounder fishing tomorrow afternoon. If you going over 9th st bridge give me a honk. Yea that's O.C.!! I'll be in my skiff on the North side of the bridge. I have very little expierence at this, but the guy going with me has. I'm bringin my pop out of retirement! he used to crush em. I got a 48qt cooler full of mussels, catfood, corn and some bricks tied to some ropes. That's all for chum. For bait we will be using bloodworms. I'm pumped!

Fished Graveling Point for three hours today with 30+ others. Had to park half a mile from the end of Radio Rd there were so many trucks. Got most of the outgoing tide, not a bite. One slot and a pair of throwbacks reported by others earlier in the day. Steady 20-25kt w&*% out of the southeast. Despite the skunk still felt good to wet a line.

Fished plugs in OC for about 2 hours around noon, top of outgoing.
Relatively warm out. Water was not dirty but not clean either.
No hits... Saw maybe 6 others around fishing bait, didn't see any fish caught.
Nice day out tho....

MAD MAY FIRST REEL EFFORT TO DAY ON THE NORTH END OF BRIG. GOT ONE SHORT ABOUT 20 IN ON CLAM ON THE START OF THE OUT GOING TIDE.
CLEAR WATER,NICE SURF ACTION, NO GRASS, ON CRABS, NO PROBLEM HOLDING BOTTOM,
BUT MAN THAT FRIGIN WIND WAS A BASSARD!!!
Did a little backbay recon this weekend in Cape May County. Looks like herring have arrived in small numbers under lighted docks but so far no Bass to be seen. I suspect they are present just not aggresive due to cold water temps.
