I found this clipping in my photo box, not sure where it came from, but it pretty much sums up our time at the water's edge:

Surf fishing has a number of advantages over other methods of fishing, the major one being that it is possible to go for very long periods of time without catching a fish. This is important because time fishless time can be spent relaxing. There are other surf fishing advantages: It is cheap, it's lonely, it's healthy and it wastes time. But most important, surf fishing, if done correctly, leaves time for the more important aspect of angling anyway, which is to observe nature while thinking about fish.

I like the peacefullness - watching nature.

I also love it because my 2 biggest bass are from the surf.

Great words.

I'm still trying to figure out why I bought this boat.
Surf has always been good to me, even when not catching for long stretches.

I look at it this way. Surf fishing is kinda like going to the beach with a toddler. You can act like a kid, play in the sand and nobody thinks you're weird.

Also, if you told your wife or girlfriend you were going to go sit in the sand all day with (name?)(usually the same sex), you'd get some really strange looks. But, tell them you're going surf fishing and it takes on a whole new meaning!
