View Full Version : Variations on Pulley Rig

I've got a bunch of Pulley Rigs left over from last year. I tied my own with Gami Octopus Circle hooks, 30-40 lb Yozuri Hybrid Fluoro, and Breakaway Impact shields.

Well some of the rigs aren't looking too hot, with hooks that could use some sharpening, and a lot of "curly" line, that looks, let's say, less than optimum.

So I'm think to get a little creative, tie up some new ones. Maybe some two hook rigs, for a large piece of cut bait? Or a clam belly / eel combo, again two hooks, for the clam smell and also live bait action.

I would think you have to keep the two hooks pretty close together. This is the key to the Pulley Rig; to keep everything held tight in an aerodynamic package. So two hooks could helicopter, unless they are held together. Maybe a rubberband would help.

Any ideas on some killer rigs for Surfcasting?

Thanks

BBSlinger,You could snell 2 hooks back to back on that rig !!!!--- You wouldn't need a rubberband !!!---- :D It still will work the same,Pull your snell through both eyes !!--- :D ---- SG

Billy,

Get some Breakaway impact shields or relay clips to keep everything in line. The Brits also make some cool stuff.

One of my favorites is to tie an extra section into the pulley rig - essentially a center section, so that when tied you have three sections of mono separated by swivels/beads. What this does is give you some extra distance on length from sinker to hook, allowing the bait to ride up off the bottom a bit, maybe a few inches at most, in current. This has helped me connect with more bass since the bait is now nose height instead of on the bottom.

There are a lot of ways to improvise the pulley rig to perform different functions.
