View Full Version : News on Sandy Hook fence
A fellow RFA member who volunteered to man the RFA booth at the Edison boat show this Thur. with Jim Winn and me said that:
"The fence must come down since they did not obtain the proper permits to erect it."
He seemed to know quite alot about what's going on with the fence. I believe he's a member of the Hi-Mar fishing club in the Sandy Hook area.

Mike,
This isnt over by a longshot. Even if the DEP makes the USCG take down the fence, the USCG could apply for a permit and reinstall the fence or just sign off that area that no access is allowed. This will not be over until the USCG allows the public access to Sany Hook Point.
It is imperative for everyone that enjoys New Jersey's beaches whether a fisherman or not to sign the JCAA petition or the stripersonline petition and write their representatives.
I will send anyone interested letters that all they have to do is sign and put in the mail. Just email me and I will email you back the letters. My email is pl24@drexel.edu

I agree, it will just delay closing the area. Pressure from the voters will be the only way to make progress. We've marched on Trenton for the bunker bill and on 2-mile beach at Cape May (Piping Plover beach closure) with some results, so maybe in addition to the petition and letter writing a show of force at the Hook would be in order.
