View Full Version : Getting painful to walk the beach.

I walk about 4 miles up and down the beach each day for exercise. This warm weather, with no wind is killing me. The surf is beautiful, calm clean and looks like it should be loaded with fish, but the water is just too dam cold. I keep looking for a bird diving, a swirl, a pop of bait and there is absolutely nothing. It feels like April out, my mind tells me it feels like April, but all I have to do is put my hand in the water and it is winter. It is so unkind of nature to tease us so. Only once have I seen anyone fishing and they said they hadn't had a bite. (they were using clams and bloodworm). After many years of beating a dead horse early in the season I guess I have become alittle smarter, but this weather sure gives you the erge to try.

The exercise is good, but the mental stress isn't.

I tired yesterday. Clams, and bloodworms, and didn't have a bite in four hours. Fished inside the Towndsend bridge. Nasty out there, but after driving 130 miles I at least wanted to tery, besides there's nowhere else I want to be.

Another perfect day. Was really thinking about getting something out of the freezer and hitting the surf, but late this afternoon the wind picked up off the ocean and it got real cold and felt like winter again. Just worked on the boat this afternoon so I will be ready the first day the water is warm.
