Went down Thursday and got my permit for IBSP.
$195 OUCH! I was #1654. Really Beautiful day, big waves, water was clear blue.

The Beach is very badly washed out. Seemingly worse than last season or rather just continuing to get worse. Ouch again!! Gillikins was open but you could only drive out about a 1/2 mile.

The Guard at the front gate said only the south end was open for driving. Low tide is often at the feet of the dunes in many places. High tide? FAHGET About it!

I got a little depressed after talking to John Jr. and a couple locals at B&N. They were not too worried about their fishing season, because, as locals, they know all the spots (of course)all up and down the whole Island which they claim (of course) are far superior and more numerous to the few holes at IBSP. Well I guess I'll just have sell the farm, pack up the wife and kids and start a new life working 3 minimum wage jobs at the shore, So I can be a local too.

I spent most of the day looking for a weekly rental. WOW! slim pickins! Looks like a banner year for the rental folks. I had very little to choose from in my price range. July- Aug,- 2 bedroom, $800 to $1200. I was told the same about almost all but the big $$$ places. Very big year for the rental agencies.

If I get the place I want I'll have a nice dock, anyone have a boat for rent?

Mike,

My two bedroom units in seaside park rent for $1,100 per week. I have a one bedroom for $750 too. Just a house away from some of the best fishing holes on the island. Still have a few weeks left to rent but the preseason has been real good. email me if interested. ctocco@hotmail.com
