Anyone here own any original Pinchney's????

Hopefully I'll be picking a few up from a guy who may sell me some smile.gif

Danny Pinchney was a master plug builder from Long Island. There is very little info I can find on him via google - most hits point too auction sales of his plugs.

Bassdozer (Russ) has a nice collection of Pinchney's.

The plug that really caught my eye was the Danny Sand Eel - looks like a wood version of a Bomber style minnow.

I don't understand why someone hasn't come up with a good reincarnation of this plug - I'd buy twenty to start smile.gif

This photo is from Bassdozers excellent article - the Danny "Sandeel" is in the middle.

It is 5" long and weighs 1oz. Found some black nickle VMC's for it. It's thru wired, stainless lip and totally sealed.

Bri,

Those Trouble makers are nice. I got a few when they were still called "Surf Chubbs"..same plug they just dressed up the name a bit. They dig real nice like surfsters are supposed too. Real nice wag and thump. Great for fishin on top of the rocks. Probaly very similiar to the tattoo surfster you had luck with...
One thing though...the finishes are pretty but the paint did chip/flake off kinda quickly for a top $$$ plug. Lasted about as long as a Gibbs...He may have corrected it though.
I still catch fish with em though. ;)
Would just like to see a tougher finish, some envirotex epoxy dip would be sweet.

that article that Bassdozer has on his website is chock full o' information on plugs. if you haven't seen it yet, i suggest that you search for it, and then sit back because it's long. a very good read though.

To me the ones to have are Musso swimmers. They were Lefty prototypes if I ever saw one. Some of these go for $100 each!

i own a bunch of dannys, used to get them from danny him self, a few year before he pasted he had a partner charly k from the farragut striper club.one day we dragged him out on breezy point jetty, thought he was gonna have a coronary.that was one of the best places to use his wood. in one of those pics there is a "wild thing" which is kinda like a conrad with a sloped head, that plug was hot under the vz bridge many years ago.the long slim sand eel plug in one pic, was horrible, wouldnt catch fish in a blitz.his atom jr was great, i have one left. i still use it, only when blues aint around.damm good plugs.

Dave Question For You...

I know you prefer the Donny Swimmers over Danny's,but what are your thoughts on the Pinchney Darters & Jointed Swimmers ?
Worth The Investment and or to still fish them today ?

Thanks,,,
