would anybody be interested in a plug swap? I have seen swaps done on different forums and thought it would be fun to do something like this with our homemade plugs. What do you think?

nice to meet you too bri. sent ya an email about what we talked about earlier.

I was thinking maybe everybody could build like 2 plugs and then maybe meet somewhere where we could pull names from a hat kinda like a polyanna? Or if anybody has any suggestions?

Vince, Sounds like a good idea but I have a question...Are you talking a "swap" or whats been called a "pass". I'm not trying to tell ya how to run your "gig" but heres two ways I've seen it done.

Swap - Each builder builds identical plugs ( 1 for each participant). They all get mailed to one designated location and divied up. This way all builders get identical packages in the end, one plug from each builder. The down side is each builder has to build a plug for each person included in the swap by the deadline.

Pass - Each builder sends 1 or 2 plugs to the organiser to get things started. A mailing list (or pecking order) is determined. All collected plugs get passed around (either in person or through the mail). You take 1 or 2 and replace them with 1 or 2. When the box hits the end it reverses the mailing (pass) order and this time you just remove plugs.

They each have their benefits. The downside of swaps, as they are normally run, is that you have to make a bunch of plugs by the deadline. A plug pass gives you time to finish more while the box is in transit.

The polyanna idea isnt a bad idea either.

Like I said, just something to consider. Let me know what you decide as far as rules and I might join in.

I have no slimedog, hooked, mullaney, or baystalker plugs....YET :D

Just make the process as easy as possible...

any advise is appreciated. I think a "swap" would be a bit much for us begginer plug builders. If 20 want to preticipate then each person would have to build 20 identical plugs.

If we kinda keep it like a polyanna and pull names from a hat, then we can do like 2 plugs and exchange with the person who's name you get.

the pass is another great idea. I'm all for whatever is easier and what everybody can agree on.

keep the idea's coming. smile.gif

I'm in no hurry so whatever is good for everybody. smile.gif

I have about 1/2 dozen plugs near completion, however these are not lathe made plugs, these are hand carved basswood. Some are good surf fishing plugs and some are good inshore divers, swimmers, and poppers. I would like to participate in an exchange of you-guys' choosing, but I need to know if I should focus on surf plugs or if inshore finess lures will be acceptable as well. Heck, maybe one of each?

Oh yeah, I'm in North Carolina, I have to be able to do it by email or snail mail.

I'm OK with the inshore backwater stuff. Kind of prefer it. When is this getting started?

I can always find a place to trash a backwater plug :D Fine with me. I might do something small myself ;)
