1- Why do people troll through a pack of 200 boats?
2- Why do Party boats try and sneak their way into diving birds? (I noticed numerous ones doing it today, even saw one captain get in a fight with a boater) Boater did get him back though very nicely...
3. Why do people wake inlets?
4. Why do people gaff short fish, then release them?
5. Why do people act so stupidly on the water? (Should have just asked this one alone) :D

1 - Trying to troll through a jigging/drifting fleet is a high skill maneuver. That said, one should troll "around" the fleet, not through it.

2 - Some boaters are idiots, and some charter boat captains are idiots.

3 - I can only speak for Little Egg Inlet, but I make a wake every time I go through it. Between the bars, numerous boats, rips, and rolling whitewater, I doubt anyone notices my wake.

4 - People that gaff and release short fish should be fined and have their fishing registration suspended. :mad:

5 - Tough one, because anyone pushing the envelope just a little bit more than you (or me) is probably going to be considered an idiot. Just like road rage. ;) That said, some people are just asses, and others simply don't know the established protocols that everyone else is following.

1. That's the only place holding fish.

a lot of guys have that ''fear of being skunked " attitude.....admit it ....it"s hard to take but the fear alone is deadly.noone likes to return to the dock empty handed and it can drive us nuts to see other boats return with fish. also i see a different fishing mentality on weekends as to on weekdays. a lot more laid back on weekdays.....less stress fewer boats more patience......maybe being retired now makes me see it this way but remember a little kindness goes a long way!

In short, most people are selfish! They don't consider other people or how their actions will affect them. They don't consider conservation or how gaffing undersized fish has an affect on recreational fishing. And consider this, maybe they are not acting, they are just stupid.

I fish both North & South Jersey & found the boaters in the south are better as far as courtesy than those from the north.They'll soon learn you don't run through the school but around it slowly quietly & let it come to you. Also all those blowups are not always fish chasing Bunker but many times it's a bird flying over the school but it still identifies a school you should not run up to or through.

Had a belmar headboat this spring off SL literally in the surf pull in between 9 boats on a pod of bunker with fish on them, honk is horn, and have his boat, which was completely full, start winging trebels all over the place. 6 of the 9 boats got hit with weighted trebels. He didn't go ahead and drift into the pod, he pulled right on top of them pushing the fish down. MO-RON

Yeah I have another question. Why do people throw bait on a crowded beach in between people who are plugging who have been there for hours before them...AND THEN get pissy when we snag them?

Oh! And another one. Why do people feel the need to stand directly shoulder to shoulder to me on the beach while I am plugging because I caught 1 fish?

Seriously. Fished with the most ignorant crowd this weekend at IBSP. No courtesy.
