Looking for a new or preferably used kayak. I want it for back bay fishing and pluggin. Also want to take it out front on calm days and be able to work beyond the breakers and rocks. Would like to use it spring, summer, and fall. Any suggestions? I'm 210#s and pretty comfortable/balanced already. Do I want a sit in or ride on? Recommended minimum length? Skeg? Color? Anything will help. I want to keep $ reasonable. Thanks for your thoughts.

Take a look at the Pungo Angler 120. 2 Rod holders/Anchor System/ plenty of storage for gear. Its a sit in so you can fish through the fall without getting cold.

If you ever get into the Brigantine or ac area I will take you out for free on a wide variety of fishing yaks. Always try a yak before you buy it.

Brian was right about everything except maybe the size. I have a Tarpon 120 and find it to be just about right as far as weight and manageability(Im 5'11 and weigh around 200 lbs.) You might want to look at the Tarpon 140. You can buy the standard on with a rudder for a reasonable price and add the flush mounted rod holders, fish finder, etc. It handles awesome, very stable, will hold everything you need, and was made for fishing. It was the best decision I have made as far as fishing is concerned. I have already boated 50+ stripers this year... The one thing you will learn is to pack only what you need, and not everything you have. Pack a plug bag, a couple of rods and a net. That's all, unless your fishing bait.
Best thing to do is go to a shop and try out a few different models.
Which beach do you go to?
Anyway, let me know if you have any questions.

Awesome feedback everyone, thanks a lot! I feel much better about shopping for one now. I go to different shore points from north to south jersey - any preferred dealers I should check out? Thanks again, this help is really appreciated. email me if you'd like jimcos999@hotmail.com

I would definately take barrell up on his offer. He helped me out about 3 years ago and I am still happy with my purchase.
