I snuck away from the holiday weekend insanity Saturday to do a little solo fishing trip. I loaded up the cooler with heavy salted clam and hit the water.Once I cleared the jetty at TI I hit a nice wall of cool refreshing air! Conditions were decent..slight chop with stained water with temps in the mid seventies. With no pressure to put friends on fish I hit a spot which I wasn't sure what would be holding. So I threw the hook and started a clam slick.. To my suprise I got into a nice Weakfish bite using clam and just a half ounce jig:thumbsup: All fish released.

After that bite died out I picked up and hit a rockpile for some meatsocks. I double strapped in on the piece and threw out the chum. Triggers hit right off the bat..but this time it was bunches of sandwhich sized fish that I released. I picked through the little triggers, tog and seabass for a while until I got a couple nice ones for the grill.

All and all a nice relaxing session with plenty of bends in the rods and my favorite meat for the table..happy summer!

Thanks PP. Yeah I forgot how pretty the sea trout are. I haven't caught any in a year. let alone keeper sized fish. Hopefully the pop is on the rebound.

Thanks brotha. I missed some of the trig bite this week. From what I've gathered over the past three seasons they will prob shut down for a few weeks. I'm pretty sure they are spawning right now with these ocean temps and time of season. Must be time for Ghetto Sharks!
Thanks for the report.
Your welcome. Glad to do it.

I've used all kinds of diff. hooks and rigs from little flicker rigs used for shad to Gama 1/0 octo hooks. You want something small but it depends on where you are. If your pulling a mixed bag it's not worth downsizing and killing tog and seabass with guthooks for a few triggers. a 1/0 chartruse finished gamakatsu hook is what I use on the pieces. Also makes for a great fluke teaser hook on your bucktail rig. If I have them under the boat going nutz I'll drop down smaller.

I am thinking about hitting a rock pile off of Cape May, but I have to pick up some teaser hooks any way so this is like killing 2 birds with 1 stone thanks for the reply

If your in wildwood jersey bait and tackle carries them..just save me a few packs. Yeah for fluke in the back just tie about a foot up the leader.

Yea he told me about it and had a blast. Im definitley in. Ive been meaning to hit you up to get out but you know how it is. When one species is going off they usually all are. Everything usually gets good at the same time. Thats the one thing that sucks about fishing. Too many fish, too little time.

I think you guys would like to hit some tog.. August is usually when some large fish move out of the bays.. tell JB to get in touch and we'll set up a date..between work time is a pita..and Jb with the two little ones is tough..so tell him to hit me up when he knows he has time off. Take care man..

I guess bro... It's not the big hauls we used to get but the fish are larger and fight better so I guess it evens out. These big guys are true wreck triggers. Remember when we used to keep em all?......no need.
Nice job man. Keep them good reports going. Love your website!
Thanks man!! The website is easy and free to do..it's a good way to keep track of reports and have everything you need weather and supply wise right on one page. I can only imagine about 35 years from now what technology will be like. I have old black and white pics of my dad and pops fishing in stone harbor with a can of schmidts each in hand catching delicious bluefish...(cough,cough..barf!) so hopefully some day my kids and grandkids can see what I did..gotta pass down tradition brother..thats what makes this SPORT..better than all the rest. The pic of you and your two kids brought that to light patty. take care man.
