I am not sure if I want to go to the Chesapeake or the Raritan next weekend. I would rather use clams or bunker in the Raritan then troll the Chesapeake. I just don't know if there are many stripers there yet.

I was out last wednesday and hammered them in the raritan bay on clams. Lots of shorts, nothing over 30 inches. Water temp was around 50.

was out last evening in Raritan clamming was good-steady pick on outgoing after the wind dropped a bit. Mostly shorts but has two over 30". Lots of bunker around-going to happen soon

Aftermath, Thanks for the report! Would you mind mentioning a rough area in the bay like east? I am not looking for an exact location, just not sure how deep in the bay I need to go. I plan to go out next Saturday. If the weather is nice I will probably launch from AH and if it is not so nice I will probably launch from Keyport.

I agree. Went out yesterday in stiff northeast wind. Anchored up on the chunk. Had fish up to 30lbs and mix of blues. The bite is early this year. Water temp. was 56.3 on incoming in about 15-20 feet of water. Bite was over by noon. Go getem!
