Got out to do a little freshwater fishing today, sure felt good to put a bend in the rod. No trophy fish, but we had a good time anyway.
Pretty chilly out there but we found action none the less. A little scouting work for later this week when the weather is supposed to be spring like.
Had some family along, my brother, cousin, and his wife, all ready for the first trip of 2005.
Perch and pickerel were the catch of the day.
With air temps forecasted to be in the high 50's
to 60 I plan on getting out a few more times this week.

Still playing with my new camera, here are a few pictures.....

Pretty little pond

I fished minnies at lunch time today and got 3 pickerel and 2 pretty decent largemouth. May have gotten more but the wind was pushin the bobber around too much. Fished a small western gloucester county pond.

Circlehook, where did you buy your minnows at? All my local shops are empty. I plan to get out a few more times this week before our lakes ice over.

There's a bait store in Morrisville PA called H&L Live Bait that has Fathead minnows year round, perfect size for Perch and Crappie. Phone number is 215 295 1400.

There are quite a few ponds on Cape May County that have good winter bassin' and pick'n. And this year, since there is no ice, it's even easier to get to the fish, on shore or with a boat. Dennisville & Ludlam Ponds, East Creek Pond, Cape May Zoo pond.... all have bass and/or pickerel that will hit now. I bet the water is in the 40's now, which is pretty warm for January. Pick up a good Cape May map and find the ponds. Several are private, though, so watch out.

They Stock That Pond at the CapeMay County

Manasquan river for sea run browns is another option.

Got out again today, caught a bunch of fish. Bass, crappie, yellow perch, bluegills, and a few snap offs from pickerel. Great day considering its mid-January. Had good company and fish all day, what more could you ask for? smile.gif
If you guys are going to give it a shot I would get out before the weekend. Most of our lakes are very shallow, it only takes a few nights with air temps in the teens to freeze them over.
64 tomorrow, you know where I'll be! :D

That pond is connected to the bay under the road, so it makes sense that they'd get in there chasing herring or something. It's not totally fresh, either, not that it makes a difference to stripers.

Now I want to go bassing on this 65*+ day, but I'm stuck at work all day... D'oh!!

 yes there are fish in that pond , it is private and it is posted! it belongs to the bianchino family. they have the generator and alternator / starter business
on rt 9 in oceanview. and your right whao :D a couple of years ago we had a real bad storm full moon flood tide and the salt infulltrated the fresh flooded it and they lost most of the fish so the pond had to be restocked .I know it cost him a pretty penny to restock it. tongue.gif

Righ off Rt 413 near the Burlington Bristol Bridge theres a Fence on the left hand side of the road and you will notice the spot where everyone parks. once you park follow the fence into the woods and you will see the lake. shoot me a e-mail if you need more info its kind of tricky to explain but i will do my best.

Today was beautiful! Lots of other fishermen out today enjoying spring weather in January.
I was out just about everyday this week, the fishing was good everyday. Started fishing for bass and pickerel early in the week and went for yellow perch and crappies over the last two days.
T-shirt weather today, was great to be out and the fish were really biting. Kept a few panfish for dinner and released a good number of pickerel and largemouth bass.
I'll be fishing until the lakes ice over.

Got out this morning, a little later than expected at about 10 am, fished for a few hours at the Squan....In the past 4 years, I've made about 15 or so trips up there in search of a sea-run--- still haven't found 'em! Stocked 6-10" browns were very active today though--- caught at least a dozen with probably twice that amount in misses...used spinners and small Rapala....None of the trout were big, but it felt nice to catch on a day like today...tight lines---Mike
