Spruce run. There are no fish in that lake at all, especially on a hot summer night when throwing poppers at cinder blocks falling in the water. ;)

1)SR
2)Round Valley
3)Merril Creek
4)Hopatcong
5)Stone Tavern

Franklinville Lake. Small shallow lake but even in the dawg days of summer I can catch fish all day long there. I also like Bells lake in Wash. Twp. Cought a 5.7 lber last year out of there and have seen a couple bigger ones cought there over the last two years.

At Willow Grove, do you fish the road or put a boat in at the Fox's (Al & Sams)? I've kayaked there plenty of times and it looks awesome.

My all time LMB favorites were the secret areas of Birch Grove Park (if there are any), Bargaintown Lake (before they drained it in the 90's), Mill Pond in Port Republic (is that thing still accessible??), Beaver Lakes (before they put up the housing developments and kicked us out), Lily Lake at Forsythe NWR (again, before they drained it), Tuckahoe Lake (before it dried up and killed everything), Patcong Reservoir (anybody take a shot at where that one is??? tongue.gif ), and Lake Fred (when I went to school there eons ago). But now I don't live up there anymore, so I have to find all new ponds to fish. I've got several doozies on my list now... :D

I fished Willgrove lake for years. I watched as the lake became polluted with beer cans and other trash and just stopped going. I also watched people smash the head of every Pickerel they caught. I just lost my love for the lake. I used to fish there for days without seeing a single soul! I even did the nasty up in the creeks with a few GFs of mine........that is how secluded it used to be. No shirt fishing was a favorite activity of one of them...........try that today  The lake is small, 120 acre so there is only so much room for all the people who go there today. I think I may take a ride over there and rent a boat just to paddle around and remember the good times.

I fished Malaga a bunch, An uncle of mine had a house on the lake.

Wilson Lake (now called Scotland Run Park) used to be one of my favorite lakes, over the years they made quite a few upgrades and the lake gets way too much angling pressure now. My largest bass was taken there in 95 a little over 8lbs.
Timber lake and the surrounding lakes offer some of the best largemouth fishing in South Jersey but are private (nice to have friends on the lake). Lake Lenape is probably the best late winter lake for numbers of fish.
We have so many productive lakes it's tough to pick one favorite, I can hit 25 bodies of water in about 10 minutes. The secluded farm ponds are up there on my list and a girl scout lake comes to mind (monster bass).
All my lakes are solid ice still, I thought this warm up would thaw them out. It looks like I'm stuck fishing the rivers for a few more weeks.

Fly Ty R,
I haven't fished Willow Grove lately, but I would fish downstream from Malaga lake (Scotland Run) to the head of Willow Grove. You can also fish to Willow Grove from the stream just before the junk yard on rt. 40 west of rt. 55. The stream starts from Iona Lake. I also would just put in my canoe by the bridge. I haven't fished the road since I was a kid. Never went to Fox's. but got yelled at by them. I was on a canoe trip from Malaga to West Side Park (Almond Rd.) and was pretty tuned up by the time I got to Willow Grove and I went on their sliding board they had on the lake and they got upset with me so I just paddled away. :D
As a matter of fact the first time I ever went fishing was at Willow Grove but on the stream side with my Grand Pop. Remember it very well and I was only 7 years old. smile.gif but I was hooked for their on. :D

alloway till the dam went out! 6.4lber $1000 winner barington bass classic winner... but that was some time ago...

have to omitt w/ Bunka rainbow & sun set are seeing some nice fish/bass at this time

spring & fall some good quilty bass are taken from the road side in salem "location" i can't give up but is well know by manyanglers..

catches of 20 bass an outing are nor... somedays they be lagre modles in the hole seeing from best last spring 7.3# 6's and 5's other days bring smaller fish from 2# to 4# & yes days of zero...which drives the herds away but patience and not giving up on the spot show the rewards of what i speak/type

live shinners & raddle traps top producres nothing to go threw 6 dozen shinners with a couple of anlgres. the bite may only last a coulpe of hours but worth the stay....

You can ski on Laurel Lake too but it is a private lake [actually two lakes] and access is strictly members only.

Does this qualify as "spots"? I guess the sweetwater crowd is a little sweeter than the salties smile.gif My son is the freshwater fisherman in the family, and I know they are not lakes, but he favors Cooper River and Newton Creek. Wait until I turn him on to this forum, he love it.

Well before the Damn cracked at Alloway Lake I would argue that it was the best lake in south jersey if not the entire state. Unfortunately it was private and hard to get onto unless you knew someone so I guess its not fair to judge against other public waters. When fish and game shocked the waters to remove the fish prior to draining the lake I saw at least 10 bass in the 8-10 pound range and 2-3 in the 12 pound range. All fish were released to public fishing holes in salem and cumberland counties. Can't wait for them to fix the damn.
