Rod selection ?

I was fortunate enough to get a Shimano Stradic 2500 from my fishing buddies as a gift. I only have one other freshwater fishing set up and it is an ultra light that I use for trout. I'll be using this rig for trout as well, but not sure what rod to put it on. Use will be lake,pond and stream. Any suggestions on length and action?

If you have an ultrlite go with a 6 or 6 1/2 medium. Kind of depends what brand you are partial to. I have St.Croix in mind.

If not St. Croix, Castaway makes nice rods. I have two I use for freshwater bassin.
