I was reading the "Summer Full Moon Fishing" thread and it reminded me of this one night fishing. There wasn't any moon out that night so I decided to start my own thread. You can add your own incredible story too.

My friend John and I love to fish at night. This particular night was very dark as there was no moon at all. We were out on Union lake. Conditions (Other than dark) were very still and very quite. The air and water were summertime warm.

We like to use surface lures at night, esp. black jitterbugs and that's what I had tied on at the time. We were working the banks moving quietly from point to point when I could hear the sounds of fish breaking water. Apparently the bass had a school of bait fish trapped. Before you knew it, the school and the bass were all around us. You couldn't see it but you could hear it.

I cast my jitterbug out and slowly retrieved it. Right near the boat a bass lunged at the lure but missed it. I told my friend, "Watch this, I'll make that bass jump right into the boat". I kept my jitterbug right next to the boat and started to work it. Before you knew it a bass jumped at the lure, missed it and he came clear out of the water and right OVER the boat. From left to right he cleared the boat. Must be an olympic swimmer and high jumper that one.

Now you know we both started laughing and I was thinking that I was pretty darn cool to make that happen. Well I wasn't as cool as I thought because in less than a minute another bass jump RIGHT INTO THE BOAT and without me working the jitterbug boat side. Funny as all heck but burst my bubble some. True story.

My story is nothing like that but one night in the pococnos me and my buddy were walking this small farm pond with Buzz baits catching slobs all over, it got to the point where we it was almost a race to get in front of one another. So to make a long story short I missed a bass about two feet from the bank, so These fish were so aggressive that night I actually did a figure 8 pattern like I was fishing for pike and wham, nice 4lber. Never had a night like that their again, I'm guessing it had something to do with a moon phase, but didn't really look at things like that back then(2yrs ago)
