View Full Version : 2005 Striper Goals
Partnership
03-11-2005, 11:50 PM
After seeing the 1st striper weighed in at Dave's place- I got to thinking about setting some striper specific goals for this year.
They are as follows:
1) Like everyone- I want a legitimate 50lb fish. I've been darn, darn close. Got my share of 40+pounders last year...but I'm ready to make 2005 the year of the 50!!!
2) I want to hone my bucktailing abilities in the rips this year
3) I want at least 3 trips to Shark River/Manasquan fishing with live bunker this Spring.
4) I want to snag my own herring and catch a striper on it.
5) I want to catch my own spot and get stripers on them.
6) I want to fish with Bucktail Willie and learn the fine art of eeling the creek mouths!
7) I want to win 1st place in a striper tourney this year.
8) I want just more more day like I had this past Fall with my sons- in the bay- where we caught almost 50 Bass on jigs and metals. Remember that Cyclops??? Just one more day like that!
9) I want to have one of those magical nights in the back, in my skiff, with topwater lures.
10) I want to break 2 new Striper Cherries on my boat this year.
Is is too much to ask???
Anyone else have some striper goals for the year???

Gotta get my first over 40lbs. Gonna be up north with the live bunker around June 6th...But I'd like to get one on a bucktail in the rips that big...My buddy Capt. Don..from the MCM caught his biggest ever on a bucktail in the rips...46lbs

Last season I broke 20lbs for the first time. I don't won't to be greedy so I would like to break the 25lb mark this year. I would like to do it on live bunker in my own boat. Tried a few times last year but could not hook up but this year I am hoping will be different.

1.I want the weather gods to be kind
2.I want the water to be clean & clear
3.I want the boat to perform without any clichés
4.I want the bait to plentiful
5.I want the same great companionship I always had as well as some new relationships
6.I want my son to be cured of Sea Sickness smile.gif
7.I want Darrin to come home ;)
If everything above prevails for most of the time I will have my fair shot at a very satisfying and successful season!
Now lets start with number one and BRING IT ON!

Now lets start with number one and BRING IT ON! I am with you. I would love to see clean clear water and plenty of bait. Everything else will fall in place. Big stripers, big fluke, big blues, and maybe even some big weakfish. smile.gif
Tom, you really set your goals high. You are not asking for too much. Are you trying to raise the bar???? Lets us know how you make out at the end of the year.

Well here is the MOST pathetic one of all. Before I say it I have been fishing for stripers for only 2 years as this will be my 3 year in LEH area. So now for me I want to catch a KEEPER striper for the table. YES that is right a KEEPER. I have caught lots of stripers from shore but none ever keeper size. PATHETIC yes i know but that is my goal. 23.5 inches is my biggest so far. PATHETIC yes but GOD give me a keeper striper.

To get alot better at bucktailing stripers in the rips, best day I had at it last year was 3 fish for 4 hrs. of fishing, most days out there in the rips "0". H ave alot of new tips to try for this year thanks to the bass barn Im going to apply.Lot of things I ve been doing wrong. Thank goodness for chunking the bay and backwaters because most days it's where I get my fish. Also to get a 40 pounder, 33 is my biggest, and last but not least, more of my one maybe two days off to be wind free or less than 15 knots at least.

I want my health, i want the boat to run flawlessly, When you say your coming, show up and B.O.T. I want the stripers mixed with drum like last year. I want the regs to be fair for all. I want fuel prices to fall back down so you can afford to go! Shall I go on!!! ALL DAY FISHING ON THE STANLEY ROSE> NO HALF DAYS AROUND HERE!

Mine is easy to...I want a 79lber, so I never have to read another long winded version of Al McReynolds stormy night on the jetty in AC.

My main goal would be to have my 15 year old son catch his first striper. He's been fishing with me for years and has yet to catch his first. He claims he's snake bit. We'll take a friend of his along-the freind catches his first striper & my son is still bassless. My second goal would be to catch a striper in the surf. I only dabbled in the surf for the first time last year and went without a bass. Thirdly, I'd like to beat my personal best of 38", 20 lbs. Lastly I'd like to catch more than six bass on a fishing trip. I hear people say that they catch ten or more on a trip, until I do it, it sounds like a fairy tail. I'll see you on the sod banks or on a beach.
Tight Lines,
