Been keeping a steady eye on the water temp in the Rips! We should start to see some fish being caught by next weekend! The temp is right around 41 degrees..last year we had our first shot at fish at 41 degrees! So get ready...cause were in the home stretch!

fyi, first striper last year was EASTER morning. Water temp just over 40 degees. Only boat in the rips @ 6am. Me and my friend limited just before 8am. Who says you cant start early! ;) ;)

Curious George, I can attest to that. Our first fish in the rips last season came on March 15th. Myself and my buddy Joe had a steady bite in a couple hours of fishing the afternoon tide. It won't be long until the bite is in full swing, barring another cold snap!

I def, think you can start earlier then the 25th and catch fish...I have caught them on the 1st of the month years past! But with the water temps jumping around the way they are...I know it would be hard to get on a consitent bite! By next week...we'll be trying though!

We're hitting the 41 degree mark by late afternoon in the back of the Raritan. Then it quickly drops back down to the 30's. The weather for this week isn't looking too good. Highs in the mid to low 40's during the day and dropping down to the mid 20's at night. Next week is we could see some 50+ degree days. That should turn on the Easter bite! I Hope!
