He must have been staring at that camera with his finger on print screen for way too long to get that shot.
Awesome picture.

I like to leave it running when I'm not doing anything on the computer. Still haven't seen anything yet, but if thats real, its sweet.

I agree. Are those suckers 3" long or is the striper 4 ft. long?
That striper is GIGANTIC compared to the suckers.

For some reason the camera has been zoomed in or something. It seems diffrent from a few weeks ago. If you look at it now though it is the same level that the striper is in. I really believe it is a real pic.

Its gotta be fake, look at the lighting. Those suckers have a serious glare on their sides because the light is shining directly at them. On the Striper the light source is from the top. In conclusion, a total photoshop fake, without a doubt.

Hey where is this ladder located and that striper looks like a mount or something placed in the water. Does anybody agree?

along with the fact that the photo looks fake, why the hell would a 40"+ striper swim up the ladder? The ladder is at the very far end of the dam, and for a fish to get to it it would have to swim through some very fast water. The pic was taken at low tide, water temp in the hi 30's. No way a striper is going to be swimming up rapids (and at low tide it is rapids) in 38 degree water and find its way into an 8" thick crevice in the wall to get in the ladder. I dont even think a fish that size would fit through the slit in the wall and get into the ladder.
and as a side note, Ive been fishing that area since mid january and have not seen a fish caught in any kind of "swift" current yet.
its fake ;)
Thats a fake pic nobody catches fish there. Dont go there. There are no stripers at the fairmount dam or suckers.

Yeah, the striper has too much of a curve to it's body. Kind of like when you get back to the dock and open the cooler. The shine also looks taxidermish-(maybe i'll submit that to webster's).

If the suckers are 3" or 4" then the striper in the pic is around 12" max. Even smaller if the camere was zoomed in at the time of the pic.
Schuykill, ever see stripers in the wash with thier backs out of the water? I don't think it is a large fish anyway.

The ladder is limited as to size of striper that can go up the ladder anyway....no way a big sriper could navigate the ladder....smaller ones yes.Pa Fish and boat did an article on fish going up the ladder what kind size etc.

just for the record i havent seen the farmount ladder. but i do live near the cooper river ladder and in late spring ive seen bass fighting through fast cold water to get close to the dam. i have even seen them jump into the wash from the tide gates trying to get through. say what you will , but i was there and know what i saw.

also keep in mind that the fish that do use these ladders( herring, shad) are food to stripers, maybe he was chasing dinner?

Does anyone know how far apart the dots are at the back of the picture? That would give you the size.
It is a pretty good fake if if is one. It is still a great shot.

Hey Tim, ya know your handle is very freudian.

This is off the fish ladder website. If the stiper is real it's pretty dang big. A full grown river otter goes over 4 feet.

Those suckers are much bigger than 4". The viewing window is a 5'x3', meaning that striper is at least 36" long.
In late spring, this pic would be more believable, but its February! A 40" striper will not swim through 38 degree rapids for no reason. The herring and shad have not begun thier annual run yet either, and at this point the suckers havent even started (back when the water temp got up around 42 in late jan, early feb was when you could see all the suckers in the ladder, now they are back out in the slower water waiting for warmer water to start thier spawn)
Fishing4fun, you can see all the stripers you want chasing herring and swimming around down there later in the spring, mainly in april, and more into may. You can go to the dam, look in the fish ladder from above and see several stripers in the 20"-30" range, just lke that cooper river dam. This time of the year the only fish that uses that ladder are the suckers.

I keep looking back and forth at the striper pic and the ladder now and the striper pic seems zoomed in. look at the dots in the ladder. they seem father back now. I am still not so sure its fake or not. Definately not losing sleep over it :D

It is not worth it to fish there. I keep hearing a story about a fishermen they found, dead under dubious circumstances, but I can't confirm it.
