Anchor or drift????????

I'd like to settle a difference of opinion that I have with a fishing friend.

It's simple.......when you're out in the bay fishing for stripers, which method do you prefer and say that works better, anchor or drift?

I say, anchor when chumming with clams and bunker in the bay. I say the same applies in the back bays when you find a nice big hole with fish lighting up the screen.

I also say that when fishing the rips, drifting is probably the preferred choice.

You're responses don't have to be too detailed, just list your choice under which circumstance. I won't be offended if you go against my method.

Anchor in the rips and you'll get more than just dirty looks, not practical and neighborly, as for the bay and chumming---yep, anchor em up.

Many a large bass has been caught while drifing clams. Does not make sence to me but it can be done. Usually, when your chumming, your on the hook however ther will always be exceptions to any rule.

From a philisophical point of view, there are no hard and fast rules. I have learned and re-learned over and over again -- be flexable and teachable and willing to try something different than what you are use to.

It's way to easy to get caught in a rut, resulting in situations where someone else is having success and you only have excuses.

It depends on the current/tide. But if you think anchoring works best for you than by all means anchor. We do both but have not anchored yet this year.
