1st trip out with boss

will be heading out for the 1st time this year, taking my boss and 2 other guys from work. we are diehard eelers but would like to try clams. thinking about the shoe or between crossledge and the flat top. any suggestions and tips would be helpful, i'll never hear the end of it if we don't catch fish.

Nick- look for a nice flat out there in the area you mentioned. Keep an eye on your fishfinder.
Use fresh surf clams if possible, 5/0 - 7/0 hookes should be fine. (I like Gammys).
Hook the clam on time throught the tongue. Use 2-4 ounces of lead- just enough to get you to the bottom.

Fish as you would chunking bunker- fishfinder rig. The fish have been biting light so have your crew hold their rods and set the hook when they feel a bite.

Did I mention chum? get 2-4 gallons of bellies and let it roll! Some like chum some don't. Personally, I never leave the dock without it.
