Maiden voyage today at GP. Fished the incoming tide to top for 3 hrs. Three dozen boats anchored, thirty people fishing from shore, water temp. 54-56, fresh clams, 5-10mph w*#@ three souls on board, took the SKUNK. Witnessed one slot fish boated the entire time. Weather was PERFECT.

I was amungst the hord of boats out there today. We did not fair much better. One 22 inch short at 8:15 and zero for the rest of the day. I have fished the point from land countless amounts of times but never in the spring from a boat.

First trip for me on Sat yielded the same... Water temp dropped from 53.5 earlier in the week to 49 on Sat..... First skunk of the season here  ... but this weeks weather should straighten her back out.

I was near the fleet on Sunday with the same results. One run-off in five hours with no hook-up. Saw one slot fish boated by a youngster.

Avoid GP on nice days like the plague. The water is warm enough now that those fish wont move into the shallows w/ bright sun and flat water. Think deeper holes further up river or fish the nastiest days of the week. Less people and more fish.

Thanks for the advice on looking for the deeper holes on those sunny warm days. I have a feeling I will be trying it again real soon. :D

ask russ at Scotts, there are a few spots (sod bank points) up by the bridge where you can almost jump onto land but be in 20' (or more) of water. Drop bait (worm or clam) around slack tides and you should get steady hits. With no other boats around and no surf guys heaving 5oz lead at ya. smile.gif

Fished the water off the point yesterday 4-17-05,AM outgoing tide nothing not a bite.Tide changed and wind changed ,moved boat to the deeper water in the channel.incoming tide just turned. Hooked up at 12:30.smashed the blood worm rod. Nice 27"- 8 lbs.only fish to hit the bait,3doz+ boats and saw few hook ups, slow day.
