For the gang up north who may be fishing in NJ & NY waters.
NY's new striped bass regs.
Striped Bass - Possession Limit: 1 fish between 28" and 40" Total Length, and
1 fish greater than 40" Total Length

I like those regs. I would much rather see the fish released but most of the fish caught are in the 28"-40" range. So 1 fish sounds good to me

That's drastically different from NJ law if you think about it. What would be the percentage of anglers getting their "Limit" in New Jersey, vs. New York? I would not be surprised if it were something like 35% NJ to 1% New York. How do you explain a discrepancy like that?
The most ironic and rediculous thing is they are the same population of fish

In addition to the recreational Striped Bass - Possession Limit: 1 fish between 28" and 40" Total Length, and
1 fish greater than 40" Total Length
they also have this ruling in NY:
Anglers aboard licensed party/charter boats 2 fish at 28"
The customer of any party/charter boat who takes two striped bass from Apr 15 - Dec 15 must possess an original dated receipt from the licensed vessel.

Thanks for that up-date Captain Steve. It's not easy when your fishing on the boarder of 2 states with different possession regs. We in the southern part of the state have been having the same problem with NJ & Delaware regs. This year our regs are the same 2@28", but we have to be careful with the bonus tag fish (NJ). No bonus fish in Delaware.
