Spent the first half of the day screwing around trying to repair a broken plastic "T" fitting and plastic water strainer for my Whaler's cooling system. (Ever notice that the closest marine supply stores never have what you need in stock?)
Eventually, I put her back on the trailer and had to get my bro to give us a water taxi out to fish on my buddy Johnny's "Byte Me." Thanks for the lift and the tow Procastinator, & mucho thanks for the fishing Johnny!
Our boat ended the day with 32 wipers. 14 for Johnny, 10 for Al, 4 for me, and 4 for Dan. Procastinator said he and his buddy got "around 50" ... which means they probably got around 30. ;)
Dan and I didn't get a chance to even start fishing until about 1:30 while everyone else got started closer to 9:00. :(
All fish were 12 - 15 inches. If the small bass we catch up north from 20 - 26 inches are called "rats", these bass were MICE.
Everyone lost and missed tons of strikes, because of the small size of the fish. all the usual lures worked including Bass Assassins, Rattle Traps and Shad Raps. The guys fly fishing were tearing 'em up pretty good.
Hopefully, some bigger bass will move up in the next week or two. The biggest we saw anyone land all day was one that looked to be ~6 lbs. caught by one of the fly guys.
