This forum looks like a good find. First time.
After spending 8 years fishing in the Chesapeake Bay, I am moving my boat to Cape May. Where would I look to find general locations of good fishing spots in the area? I am not asking for specific coordinates, just general locations.
Second, I am wondering if there are any permits/license for the De. Bay, because I plan to bring the boat down through the C&D and will do some striper fishing as I make my way down in a couple of weeks.

First off welcome to the Barn. I keep my boat up the bay from Cape May and I must say you will truly enjoy yourself. Since your new to the area, the first thing I would do is get yourself a chart of the bay (home port makes a mighty fine one, imho) You can also look under the resources page and you can find gps numbers for many of the more common fishing grounds. Look for structure, drop-offs, etc. Finally make friends, talk to your dockmates, and read the reports here on the barn! There are a lot of guys from the Barn in Cape May who are more than willing to help out. What marina are going to be at? I won't be putting the boat in until late this year (family obligations) but maybe we'll run into each other. Best of luck and tight lines!

at the top of this page you will see a link to "resources" and there you will find numbers to many of the "spots" in the area. The artifical reefs are great places to start for bottom fishing. Here's another site with some great info on it (give it time to load)...
