Striper Night
Don't Miss our 8th Annual Striper Night!
What? A full night of striper fishing seminars designed to help YOU catch more fish!
When? Tuesday, April 4th, 2006. Seminars begin 7pm. (videos begin 6:15pm).
Where? Mount Laurel Radisson (Rte. 73, near NJ Turnpike). Click here for directions
Cost? Adult admission is $10. Kids under 16 and spouses are FREE! No advanced tickets are needed. Pay at the door.
Details: Striper Night has grown into one of the largest single-day seminar series in the state, with nearly 500 anglers cramming into the Grand Ballroom at the Mount Laurel Radisson to partake of last year's event. And, this year's lineup might just be our best yet! Non-alcoholic refreshments will be served, and there will be tons and tons of door prizes. Arrive early for best seating!
NOTE: There has been a last minute schedule/topic change! Due to unforseen circumstances, the second speaker (Allen D. Riley) has been replaced by NJ Angler Field Editor, Bob Jaroszewski. The topic will be "Light Tackle and Fly Rod Stripers". We're sorry for any confusion this may cause, but it'll be a great seminar nonetheless!
Agenda:
7pm: Boat Fishing Techniques for Bass by Capt. Chris Gatley
Capt. Chris Gatley of Ardent Angler Guide Service will discuss ?Boat Fishing Techniques for Bass?. Chris will cover jigging, trolling and live bait presentations that he?s found to be productive in the Raritan Bay and Northern NJ coastal waters where Chris operates as a full time guide.
?Boat control is a very important aspect of striper fishing,? says Gatley. ?This seminar will focus on different boat handling techniques that will help anglers to make more realistic presentations and catch more fish.?
8pm: Light Tackle and Fly Rod Stripers by Bob Jaroszewski
Next up will be Bob Jaroszewski, New Jersey Angler field editor, well-known outdoor writer, and die-hard light tackle afficionado. Jaroszewski?s program, ?Light Tackle and Fly Rod Stripers?, will cover everything you need to know to get started pursuing stripers on the fly, and some tips and techniques for going after 'em with the lightest of tackle in the bays, inlets and along the oceanfront, as well as from the beaches and jetties.
?Stripers are tailor-made for light tackle,? says Jaroszewski. ?In my mind, there's no better way to pursue them than with light spinning gear and fly rods.?
9pm: Bunker Chunkin' Bass by Bill Donovan and Darren Dorris
The night?s final presenters will be New Jersey Angler Video Magazine co-hosts, Bill Donovan and Darren Dorris, who will discuss ?Bunker Chunkin? Bass?. Both anglers spend a significant amount of their fishing time throughout the spring and fall ?on the chunk?, and they?ll be discussing both the basics and some of the more subtle nuances of this deadly big-bass technique.
?Although chunking is a comparatively easy way to catch a trophy bass, we?ve found that there are lots of little ways to improve your score,? said Dorris. ?Chunking for stripers is kinda like chunking for tuna?the devil is in the details.?
