Nice afternoon and found some real nice bass ,ended up with 8 all over 26" with 4 going 30"
All on Eels
This was inside and the fish were clean ocean fish and full of sea lice so it looks like the bite has begun

Thanks for the report Willie. They're just about right on schedule. (By my log from the last 1/2 doz. yrs. anyway.Gotta keep them blues from tearing up all my eels though. And clamming usually brings a nice size shark or 2 this time of yr  Let the fun begin smile.gif

Fish4,
where are you going to fish this weekend. I'm new to the game. I'm planning on going out Sun A.M.
Should I stay in the bay near Hereford or go outfront?

I would stay in the bay. If your in Hereford Inlet area there are lots of good places to anchor up and chum for bass. Turtle Creek is very good. There is also a small rip at the entrance to turtle creek. Try to use your depth finder to find a good edge. If you have a good model and if there are fish present you will see the fish on the humps. Get yourself a bucket of clam bellies and put them in a chum pot or toss them out with a soup ladel. Dont throw too much. Get some nice fresh clams for your hook. I also like to anchor up against the sod banks. I usually pick the side that the wind would push you up against since the baitfish are usually there. Good luck. You will see alot of the same boats week after week watch what they do and where they move at different stages of the tide.

When you talk about anchoring up is it better to go during the day or night?

total of 32 bass caught this week, most of the fish were 28-31" and the largest was 37"
Fish aren't thick and in some strange places ,this is just first week of the inside bite of decent size fish. It should continue to get better as water cools.
My theory is the fish want fresh bait, their stomachs are empty and not much bait of any size inside. Put a fresh eel, fresh clam, live Spot or Kingfish in front of the bass and it will be hit it
once you find them which is easier said than done
at the moment.
Also,if you are catching small fish excellent chance there aren't any big fish in area
