Couple of questions as I've never trolled for Stripers before. I have a couple umbrella rigs, what speed do you troll? Also best time, day/night, tide? Thanks.

Hey Cat Cha...when it comes to trolling for bass my motto is "The Slower The Better". Just a notch over idle should put ya in the game smile.gif
Trolling for bass at night with a moving current (Check the reports for best times) is always a good bet.
Watch out for dem blues!

rattle traps have got shorts many blues and chunking(fred) has caught weakfish early or when traffic is light.have also caught trolling with poppers very slow and jigging it very easy.

i WOULDN'T RECCOMEND an umbrella rig inside unless you don't plan to be on the bottom where the bigger bass are.
Single 3/4-1oz bucktail with 6"twister tail ,or any type of swimming plug BUT you need to get it to the bottom or as close as possible.
Changing depths, sodbank breakage has a tendency to capture umbrella rigs inside
As far as speed ,you can't go too slow
