I thought I'd try out the rips today so I brought my 12 year old nephew, his 13 year old friend and my 6 year old nephew. I know it's a little early, but I bought a couple dozen eels anyway because you never know. I was hoping we were going to get something no matter what it was so the kids wouldn't get bored. We ended up getting out there about an hour before dead low tide found some birds and caught plenty of snapper blues. At slack tide the birds were gone so I cut up a couple of the bluefish for strip bait and put them on the end of bucktails and boy what a great time these kids had. We caught approx. 16 croakers, 2 14" weakfish and more bluefish. when the incomming tide started we didn't get anymore weakies or croakers but boy did the kids load up on bluefish. Between the three of them they must have caught close to 70 fish today. We kept 10 bluefish, 12 croakers and the 2 weakies and released the rest. I did put one eel out but those bluefish were all over it so I figured I'd save the eels for another day and besides that I didn't have 2 minutes to do anything alse but help the kids. It was a great day and a lot of fun!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous Saturday in the rips. I'm praying to Luke for similar conditions the next 8 weeks. I took my dad out and caught more of the same Dwayne - croakers, blues, and weakies (decent size). We caught a few blues trolling with bucktails (a minor miracle). At least 50 boats were in the same vicinity. My mind was brought to amazement when there were no rip formations during dead low tide - it was that calm out. Water temp still warm. Did anyone catch anything else besides the aforementioned fish in the rips?

Capt. Bizzle,
We did not catch any other species of fish I listed everything we caught. I can't wait to get out and do it again.
