Hey guys...Nice to be able to get out on the water..Just was looking forward to getting out and breathing some salt air after the experience i just went through with my Mom..We'll met a buddy and figured i'd drag some eels around even know i thought the water was a little on the warm side..Well the third drift and wam my buddy is hooked up ..nice fat 36" bass...Nice i thought and juices were flowing..We'll water was moving and decided to change loc. and nothing..so water slowed down and than i was able to pick away at fish...I got 4 stripers to 28" and ten weakies with all being from 14 to 24" and dropped a few..was using my medium light action croy with 20 lb. PP so it was alot of fun...Fish were taken closer to the bottom of the outgoing on zooms...Anyway with all being said it is nice to be back on the water and i know thats where my Mom would want to see me ...Enjoying what i love so much...Later Pazman

My condolences on the loss of your mother. Nothing can hurt her now.
Can you give me any tips with the eels. Are you drifting or trolling. Totally new at this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Bet...Welcome...I use Power pro on my reels...you get some flourocarbon 50# test..Cut 3' lenghts and tie a 6/0 J hook on and on the other end i tie a trolling weight..You want to make some up with 3/8 trolling weights up to 1 oz. dependind on where your fishing ...Depth.. tide etc...That way you can change out if need be..On the end of your Power pro you tie a a spro snap swivel 50# on and all you have to do is hook on desired rig for wherever your fishing..I allow eel to hit bottom while drifting and than i lock up and dead stick in holder...If your around structure you might want to hold on to rod so you can feel bottom than bring it up a couple cranks so you avoid snagging...Let me know how ya do...Pazman

Pazman2...that's good advise. I use a similar
setup that has been effective. However, once in
a while the eel decides to wrap itself in the
leader making a nasty mess. Do you have this
problem, and if not, do you do anything in particular
to prevent the problem? Thanks!

Pazman2-Thanks for the comeback. Will give it a try-but probably not this weekend. The weather doesn't look the best-Friday 4-6 with 10-15 knots increasing and 3-5 on Saturday. Gonna stay home and get some work done so we can play the following weekend. Where do you fish out of and where's your usual haunts. We're at the Little Egg Inlet-Great Bay area.
