In the near future (not exactly sure when at this point) you may not be able to access the BARN for a short time...hopefully. I know how some of you can get without your daily Barn fix ;)

Anyway...what's happening is this - Infopop, now known as Groupee, has announced the fact that they are no longer going to support their Ultimate Bulletin Board - Classic. Which just so happens to be what we are running here at the BARN.

Without support in the future, I figured migrating into another product would be a no-brainer. So that's what we're gonna do smile.gif

I feel kinda bad becuase our current board has been so good to us over the past 6 years. I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do smile.gif

Anyway...

The new board we are moving into looks and feels a lot like our current board. From a users perspective ya shouldn't have any troubles navigating, etc.

For those of you who have our forums Bookmarked as apposed to our home page - www.TheBassBarn.com (http://www.TheBassBarn.com) I'm going to redirect our current message board URL to the new one but just incase I would suggest you bookmark www.TheBassBarn.com (http://www.TheBassBarn.com) instead of or in addition to our forums.

For a sneak peak at some of the features that will be available with the new board (like image uploading...yahooo!) Click Here (http://www.vbulletin.com/features.php)

vBulletin is a powerful, scaleable, fully customizable product that I'm very excited about moving into. This product is without a doubt the way for us to go in the future smile.gif

Now remember! If ya can't access the BARN, don't panic! I have to shut things down (when the time comes) while I import threads and member data into the new forum.

Remember to take along a list of the "members who were expelled".

Glancing at Yahoo link reminds me of the Midget Site. I only looked Boss; never joined. :D

Coomes the time is near. I'll miss the old board but I am excited as hell about the new one. It seems like such a long time ago that we first talked about the migration.

Lets git ir done!

Ron, wish you luck on the change(s). Does the infopop support system have our e-mail etc files? If so, do they have the right to sell or share them ? smile.gif

Ron, If your BB is being handled by that groupee company, make sure that they don't send out any messages with the subscribers login and password clearly readable in the text of the message like KFS did. It's really a horrible feeling to open a message not knowing who the hell groupee is and seing your LI and PW for anybody behind you to read. That groupee message was the first time since I've been using the net (over 10 years) that anyone has displayed my password un-requested. It lost KFS a customer, so don't let them piss off any of your subscribers too.

Infopop (now known as Groupee) is simply the company from which I purchased a license from to run thier software. They don't know anything about you...or our other 11,000+ members smile.gif

Our site is actually hosted on our very own dedicated server. The Barn never was and never will be hosted by Groupee. I thought about it when they first offered hosting but their prices were...well...let's say a little to pricey for me smile.gif

This image keeps popping into my head - from the movie "Jurassic Park". The chain-smoking technician is trying to bring the system back on line. Everyone else is standing around watching. It's truly life or death. He says emphatically, "Hold on to your butts". Then hits <Enter>.

Thanks for keeping everything current. The BassBarn is a great place to visit.
With the new set up can you incorporate the plug building deal in with it so we can get some dialog going? Just a thought.
Thanks!

Toss the "chain smoking" thing and you're right on the $ :D

Thanks! To be honest chlstn, we're going to migrate into a new board but that's about it. We're really not going to change a whole lot.

I'm a big believer in not fixing what's not broken smile.gif

Based on what I see going on at other sites regarding plug building forums. They seem to be used with frequency for 2 or 3 months out of the year. The rest of the time they dont seem to do a whole lot...at least not enough to convince me that we need to add a separate plug building forum. Besides, the increased plug building topics were a nice additon to our surf fishing forum during the slow months last winter. It kept the forum alive and kicking smile.gif

Thanks for all of your efforts in operating, maintaining and improving the best fishing and boating site on the web.
Everyone needs to step back for a minute and appreciate the time put in and the work that is done by the administrators and moderators to keep this tug pulling.
