Hey fellas,
i've been having problems with getting the tide times correctly. I know that they are not exact to the minute, but i check on-line at striperonline.com and they give me one time and then when i checked the in-fisherman Mag. last night i saw that their times were completely different from what is posted at the striperonline site. Can anyone point me in the right direction to a source or even better a site that has the correct times. I'm fishing out of the barnegat light area.
thanks and by the way, what do yo all think about getting out Sat. I know it looks a bit windy and rainy, but i thought it should still be good, what do you all think?
Thanks guys,
Cap. Deanald

I usually pick up a tide chart at the beginning of each season at the local bait and tackle shops in the area that you will be fishing in.

Pick Sandy Hook as the Station

You're probably looking for high and low water slack which is a whole different ball game. Otherwise, Sandy Hook tides are the tides for the coast within an hour for each location.

Every location has a different time. The current can still be running strong well after the"high" or "low" time in the tide table. For current....you need to look in a current table. Usually on every tide table (including the tackle shop ones) there are time corrections for each geographic location.

Tides can be as much as 5-6 hours different...like Philadelphia is much later than Cape May. A mile or two back bay can be several hours later than the inlet...thus the current flowing past the high or low.

I see you're also from TR. If you're looking for the general time for the tide in our area, use that website. It hasn't been wrong for me once. Of course if you're not fishing Bayhead there will be a little bit of a difference, but it'll give you the idea.

The Pilots Association of Delaware Bay puts out a booklet for tides and currents in Delaware Bay for many locations. My contact no longer works for them and i have not had a copy in a few years. Try calling them in Lewes, De.
