Clean Sweep brought 3 to the scales weighing in at 103 lbs, with the biggest fish at 39.25 I think. I'll get the whole story later on. The guys were busy cleaning the boat when I called.

Did Clean Sweep keep to the promise? All those fished "gutted" after weigh-in? I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but did they have metal detectors at the weigh-in, sounds like a lot of fish to check. Good luck to everyone fishing.

They can but I can't! Yesterday we only caught 1 at 18½ lbs.

Mary,
Thanks for posting the picture!

tournyfish1,
Trying to hijack another thread I see! Why don't you stop by the weigh in tomorrow? Jim Murray the owner of Clean Sweep will answer any questions you want to bring up! Jim will be there between 2pm & 4pm Instead of hiding behind your computer stop by and talk to him in person!

Simple question, don't take offense. Or maybe I can just meet up with you tomorrow? BTW, it was a promise, is he a man of his word, I assume he is. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Again, congrats to all!

First off, if he stops by at the times I told him to the team will be just getting in to weigh in. Plus the owner will be there to discuss any matters that are brought up. Now why do the two of you have to discuss that on here when you can talk to the team in person right there??

Friday Tournament Results The Rockin Robin II took the lead with a total two-day weight of 143 pounds. Captain Jonny Thomsen, Jr. and his crew have weighed in six fish, the heaviest being a 31-pounder on Thursday.

They are followed by Capt. Jim Murray's Clean Sweep II in second with 121.5 pounds. Capt. Gene Bachtle's Last Buck is in third place with 117.25 pounds.

17 boats out of a 41-boat field weighed in fish on Friday. The heaviest striper of the day was a 39.25 pounder that was 46" long weighed in by Clean Sweep II. All three fish weighed in by Murray and his crew yesterday were in excess of 30 pounds, butRockin Robin II has a six to four lead over them in number of fish weighed in over two days. (Any striper must be at least 34" in length to qualify for the weigh-in.)

For all the barking dogs on this thread, all three fish submitted by Clean Sweep II on Friday were alive when they hit the scales. No, they were not gutted. Two Clean Sweep II crew members and Utsch's Alex Toufel spent over 20 minutes trying to revive the fish and release them after the weigh-in, but were unsuccessful.

Seems as though TF1 is at it again. Just can't resist stirring the pot AGAIN. Right or wrong handle your personal vendetta's off of this board. It sounds like Striper101 made a very fair offer. This is your last warning.

Amberjack thanks for the update!

Joe whats amazing is with all the attention Tim and Clean Sweep get they forget about Ernie the owner of the Marina who has run a very reputable tournament for years. I suppose if some are the protectors of the barn these self appointed are the protectors of everyone else...hmmmm Maybe they should also know that Ernie welcomed there participation as Tim is certainly one of if not the best in NJ at Bass fishing! The scale speaks and yes there was an audience there to view the fish! Oh thats right the fish were there for the public to see and photograph and touch! I guess if you can't beat em bitch about em! SORRY JOE................

Oh boy, a last warning. Sweep made the promise, I was just asking. No vendetta here, I will never be half the fisherman Timmay is, I don't do it every day. I never said anything negative about his skills, I know he catches fish and I know he catches big fish. I never questioned Ernie's ability to run a tournament either. Please guys, keep it on track and don't blame me for what that boat brought on themselves. Again, looks like some nice fish were caught, congrats to the leaders. Catch um guys and girls. ;)

Thanks, and good luck!

Well Tournyfish1...up until this point I think even you will agree that we've been more then fair with you by allowing you to air your grievance with Captain Tim & Clean Sweep charters on the board. My hopes were that you came here for more then to settle a score with them but based on your post history, that isn't the case. We've...I've asked you to discontinue the constant reminders / hijacking of threads. Obviously you chose to ignore my polite requests.

Please check your email.

Don't know anything about sweeper or care or wont accuse anyone without the facts.

Heard from the old timers in the area that there was allways lots of cheatin goin on in that turny. Like catchin fish days before and so on...

For that matter most tournaments... if you think it don't happen your kiddin yourself.

I don't bother with them but find all the bull@#&& entertaining.

Nothin wrong bout talkin about it.

tournyfish1,
Your really impressing with the great content of your posts, why can't you let this thread, JUST be a thread about the tournament.

Since your probably not fishing it, why don't you just lay off?

A Saturday weigh-in of three striped bass totaling 86 pounds allowed Captain Johnny Thomsen, Jr. and the crew of Rockin Robin II to maintain their lead and take first place in the tournament. The team took home a first place check for $5,000. Second place was Joe Musso's Reel Life II, third was Captain Gene Bachtle and Last Buck.

Total prize money awarded (first, second and third place, plus all calcutta's) was $13,550.
Clean Sweep, Last Buck and Re-Re split the over-all tournament calcutta.

21 boats braved the rain, wind and early morning lightning to fish Saturday a.m. Eight boats made it to the scales on the final day with 34"-plus fish. The heaviest fish over-all remained the 39.25 pounder landed by Clean Sweep.

Eight boats weighed in three fish per day on all days of the tournament.

Getting back to the reports here

It was a good showing w/ 40 some boats participatin. Unfortunately the conditions were bad and the fishing was tough with the warm 63 degree water temps, bites were hard to come by. We started out in pretty good shape though catching 4 fish, thanks to Spooled who joined us for day 1, thanks again bud, nailing 3 fish, whose 2 we weiged in along w/ a 30 lbr. I got late in the day netted us 66 lbs. for 5th place.

Day 2 bites were even tougher to come by, w/ me getting the only 3 bites of the day but I broke off the biggest one when my line popped on the hook set of a BIG fish..this one took off like a freight train and pulled back hard when I gave it to him....too hard still kicking myself for that one, first time I ever had and equipment failure like that, my fault should have had 50 lb. braid on that reel for a tourney, but I had 30 lb. fireline, which has never parted on me before, but this was a big fish  Thankfully the 23 & 25 lbr. I got on the same rod got us 48 lbs. on day two which was good enough to keep us in 5th. place, still feeling like we had a good shot.

Last night and this morning it was about as inclement as it can get, NE winds gusting to 25 kts. and torrential downpours, allready a battered crew, we were thinking about throwing in the towel, but we were in it so we had to go, got out a bit late and w/ the weigh in one hr. earlier and no outgoing to fish we only managed one bite, my brother got on the board this time w/ a 22 lbr. We finished w/ 6 fish at 136 lbs. 4th place overall out of the money by 7 bs.

First was Rockin Robin w/ 229 lbs, 2nd Reel Life II w/ 183 lbs. and third Last Buck w/ 143 lbs.
Congrats to those guys!

Team Clean Sleep took 1st place in the Calcutta for biggest fish at 39 lbs! Congrats to Capt. Tim, Striper 101 and their crew on that win!

We had a great time, my crew of my father & 2 brothers along w/ Spooled day 1, friends Ray and Chris days 2 & 3 fished hard and had fun. It was also great seeing Partnership each day, who fished w/ the crew of the Low Bid right down the dock from us. These guys gave it hell in the tough conditions, nailing some nice fish too! Way to go guys! Good seeing Luvtofish and meeting Fshlot this morning, tough break on the conditions man, it was nasty out there today..until it was time to go in..then the rain stopped, the wind died and it went from 4 footers to almost flat for the 1st time in 3 days, go figure!

Capt G- congrats on a great finish. You guys gave it hell and it was a pleasure being out there with you and your crew all three days. They were some tough conditons.

Congrats to all the winners and especially all the other crazy Captains who made it out there today. It's all about commitment!!!

I just wanted to say that I witnessed the Clean Sweep Team enter the scales yesterday and it was a sight to see. They brought 3 huge fish up to the scales in nets so they would not put any undo pressure on the fish. After a quick weigh in 3 team members took 3 fish right back to the water and tried to revive them. This was even better than gutting the fish!!! I believe two were revived with a final third one swimming on it's belly and could not be revived. It was brought back in and cut and inspected by the weigh master.

Also- as far as cheating goes- I don't think there were too many people fishing a few days before the tourney....the weather sucked.
