Maurice River

Hey friends,

I would like to know if I launch at the Maurice River Bridge, how far is it to the bay and can I catch Stripers in that area??...HELP!

If you launch at the Mauricetown Bridge you are proably about 30-40 minutes from the bay. It is not the distance that will eat up your time it is the no wake zones at the marina's. It will take you a good 20 minutes just to get past Port Norris/Shellpile. Right now you can catch stripers up and down the river...if you can keep the catfish away. Obviously your chances would be better the closer you are to the bay since there are less catfish and more stripers.

Went out to Longreach, water temp was 61, the tide was going out, and I got skunked! I stayed in the mouth of the river, saw alot of boats going out beyond sight, but my little boat aint going out there...at least it was a nice day! I will try to get out again before I leave. Thanks for the info mudcat!!
