Great Egg River in Mays Landing

Hey new to the site! Loads of good information. Anyone have any pointers and or suggestions on nailing em on the river in Mays Landing? The herring are running, I have been out a few times with bloods, lures and even chunked fresh herring Saturday ( they kicked it before they made it to my live-well ) and not even a nibble. Any help would be appreciated.

The pluggers have started to line the bulkhead at the NE end of the bulkhead in the morning the last couple days. From second hand reports a long cast with a surface popper across the sand bat that builds out there will account for fish. I know a lot of the regulars that come into my store buy the red head variety. Tsunami, Storm chug bugs and Cotton Cordel pensil poppers are popular.
