ReelyHooked

After a couple tough days, things got a whole lot better yesterday.

We had tried eels and spot on Wednesday to no avail, just one feeble run off. But Friday we clammed the sods, and we were finally able to make some noise.

We fished the falling tide, wind was north but not obnoxious. We chummed clam and used clam for bait on fishfinder rigs. We hooked 6, boated 4. Three were perfect cookie cutter 27 inchers, one slightly better at 29.

A few skate, a couple dogs, but overall not a major menace. After the last two trips produced nothing, this one was a welcome relief, and hopefully the "ice is broken" and it will get better from here.

Glad to here some fish finaly being caught on clammies. Reely, how was the grass? Where I fish in LE it is sometimes a real mess when the tide is outgoing.

Reelyhooked good effort during tough fishing weather. Way to get out there and make it happen.

i was out yesterday 10/21. worked the middle rip. fair amount of grass. lots of herring and small bunker 7" most people were working the birds behind the rip. good action on bass 27" to 36" right on the lip in the smooth water till boat traffic thru the rip shut it down. short drifts. the grass wasn't a problem as the strike zone wasn't more the 25 yds long.

I too was in the inlet on Fri. afternoon. Played hookie 1\2 day on the outgoing tide. Got one on eel and then anchored up on the edge of the bars with clams. Wasn't long before I boated another. The bluefish were present doing their thing, but all in all the action was worth the couple of hours in drizzly weather. Both fish were 26".

Good job and thanks for the report. We had one around 36 inches on clam just south of you along the ICW on Saturday - man the wind was howling out there on Sat but not much grass though.

JohnnyD and I placed 2nd out of 16 boats. The first place total weight of top 2 fish was 45lbs. We had a total weight of 36.93lbs. We also took the 2nd in the calcutta at 18.91lbs. The top fish was 25lbs. They put on a very nice tournament and I look forward to fishing in their tournaments in the future.
