I've been out a few times in AC and Brigantine, in the surf. Seems people are catching them on something different every day, but even still they don't seem to be too thick down this far yet. Talked to the bait shop, they said clams, eels, live spot, and plugs have been catching'em, so I'm not sure how that helps. As for me, I've tried the clams, and I got nothing but sand sharks. Caught my first one of the season, about 22 inches, last night on a plug at the South End of Brigantine by the rocks. So I guess we're still at the point of experimenting. Hope that helps by not eliminating anything yet!:D

I would give chumming clams a try along one of the deeper cuts along a sod bank either up in Broad Creek or Meadowcut or even Little Panama. Really anywhere there is nice drop offs near back creeks and away from the boat traffic. Be patient, it may take some time to bring em in but it'll be worth it if you have some action.
This weekend last year I chummed for a good 2 hrs and was rewarded with a nice fish around 36 in or so.:)
Good luck.

I think the more you chum, the more fish will come to the slick and to your baits. I also don't like to run out of bait (only has happened once:D ) so I would get 1/2 bushel or bushel of clams (depending how long you plan on fishing) and create your own clam soup (adding salt water to the diced up clams) and ladle over the side with a log or two on the bottom throughout the day. Be patient and hope the fish cooperate.

It is starting that is for shore! But if you really want to catch them I would suggest 10 pm instead of 10 am.
I'm sure there will be a lot of people expending the effort, but there still aren't many fish to be had. I think live bait would beat clams at this point, which I mean fish since the eels are definately best at night this early in the season.
If you are fishing lures in the day light I would suggest fishing deep with jigs, rubber shads or Gulp. You will probably want to do some serious looking and if it calms down I've heard of mixed schools of weakfish, blues and bass showing up off the beach.
Good Luck and stop by the store for the most up to date information.
