It's been one hell of a week.
Nice weather this weekend means you'll be able to walk across the boats from one shore to the other.
I'll be there early but it probably wont matter.
It's gonna be nuts so i'm packing some valium in anticipation ;)

Good luck guy's

Had to work like hell to get a few herring this morning. I read them pretty well but I think it was just too dark/cloudy. They bit a little better later on after the sun came out but still no slaughter. Managed 2 bass over 30".

What a differance a day makes.
The sun disappeared today by 10 the wind picked up and we got nailed with a heavy downpour :( .
The ramp at trenton was hillarious, at least now it is......1,000 boats all trying to get out at the same time and i only witnessed 3 atempted murders during the whole debacle
Not to bad huh! ;)

The bass were slow compared to what i've had all week.
1 to the boat and 1 lost .
We also had a couple of hit n spits before the rains came and then we split . It just wasnt worth staying any longer

In Depth, been surfing/fishing the web/river for years and think this is the best thing going yet. Think I know you even though I haven't meet you yet. Yes, quite the zoo in Trenton today but you could get the bait w/a little work. Got 10 herring and my brother got a nice 36" bass later. Thanks for the thread.

Fished Trenton on Friday. 8 shad, about a dozen herring and 1 striper to the boat. Still can't believe how bad they blew the weather forecast for Friday. But sure glad we went.

I'm glad you feel that way. Besides this thread trying to keep things a little organised another motivation for it was to give the guy's who fish there regularly a place to feel like they fit in.
Theres hundreds of forums for those who fish in the salt where they can chat about the day's events in almost real time. In retrospect there were none for the river especialy for what goes on up in trenton.
I just thought it puts a face on things.
I do my best to keep it real yet at the same time not to give away any secrets that might ruffle some feathers.

My trip for today was canceled due to conditions but i was gonna fish today anyway. When i woke up and saw it pouring outside i just bagged the idea so i could take care of some other things that have been neglected lately.
I didn't need to fish today anyway

In Depth,
This was a great idea to start thread for the river. Was planning on fishin today but this time they were correct with the weather hence I stayed home. Maybe by Thursday the river will be back in shape. Got to think its a bit like chocolate milk with all the rain.

Fished Trenton this weekend. Friday night caught 3 all on the chunk(fresh). Saturday night had one on the chunk(fresh). Sunday had one live lined. We had a hard time catching bait, appears the run still has not come on strong. I hope this rain does not cause us to miss alot of the fish due to unfishable water. Has anybody tried plugging above the bridges yet?

The herring run is just getting started. April is always finiky. One day you slay them the next there like pulling teeth.
As far as plugging goes , it's still several weeks away for good consistant plugging to happen.

This is a late report that JPHOOKS put in the river reports from last week but it should have been this week. I will start with Friday 4-23JP and I fished in the evening befor the rain and got Two fish on dead herring one was 33 and one was 35 inches. Then Saturday Morning it started at about 7 am with the herring cooperating nicely. By two in the afternoon we boated seven from 30" to 37" with two 37" at 25 and 26 lbs.
Sunday was not as good. The herring cooperated but the stripers did not. After many hours and 2 big cats we called it quites with herring still swimming in the tank. The wind did completely change from Sat to Sun. But we did get a 16 incher on the famous gold hook. That made it four days in a row boating at least one striper. We will not be out again until tomorrow evening. By the way I only saw two boats in Trenton this morning and the water is muddy but not real bad.

Fished Trenton saturday - my buddy an I got 18 herring and headed north above the falls. Got 29, 32 and 38 inchers. Had one run off that I couldn't stop, turn or do anything with but follow up river. Began to back up to follow the fish and it spit the hook. Water temp was 61.

Fished Trenton today - nothing - water was fast and brown. Air was cold and w***y. Water temp dropped to 52 today.
