hey, there.
I will be fishing LBI this Monday - ideally looking for stripers. I will be in a 21' boat. how has the striper bite been in this area?
any particular lure choices you'd recommend?
any *general* areas or should we just look for birds and breaking fish?
thanks.

What inlet are you using. Spoke to a few that have had weaks and bass in Little Egg on live spot. No large cocentratios though I expect it will be a parkinglot out there Saturday. If your going to BL I'm sure there are fish there and hopefully someone from that end will chime in.

Where on LBI? the two inlets are totally different. They ARE there:) We have been catching fish at BL inlet w/live bait. Talked to some guys that caught a few when clamming at the south end. The marsh around seven bridges has produced w/artificials. Good Luck

There was a guy about a week ago who has been fishing LBI for the past twenty years. He posted a report last week. He claims he gets them large and now!!!!!!!! Read his post in this forum.

There has been a couple fish from LEI the past couple days. With this temp drop,it should break open any day.Hopefully this coming week will show an improvement.

are there likely to be any from the surf yet? I know, just go try and tell you :D
but seriously, thoughts? I'm relatively new to this, just started last fall and caught first nice fish this spring...still semi-retarded in most regards (fishing and otherwise) :p

i have been fishing live spot in the inlet and areas close to the inlet in the bay. i have had at least one fish everytime i have gone out. the outgoing tide is a must. monday morning the tide should start around 7:30AM. i would stop at BLBT and pick up some spot. the sedges and the inlet should produce fish for you.
also try heading out into the ocean. the forecast is looking great and there has been bunker along the beaches. bring some treble hooks and give that a try for the larger bass

I fished off the southern Island today, ( Beach Haven ). I didn't get any stripers, just bluefish. There are alot of bunker schools. I was using live spot. It's gonna bust loose any day now! It will only get better everytime you go out until you are done for the season.

Absecon Bay has them and Chestnut Neck Boat Yard. My boat is at CNBY so I but them there. They are 3.50 ea. They need to be kept in a live well. ( cooler with airater works fine ).
Live line them with a 4/0 or 5/0 bait hook 3' leader through an egg sinker. Use only enough weight to be on the bottom an no more. You will change weights as the tide picks up.
