Esox, my son and I wanted to do some wreck fishing today. Had a sunrise start to nice flat seas - that was the last we saw of the flat seas. Hit a wreck 22 miles out of TI. Things were ok to start with some good sea bass to 4Lbs plus Esox pulling in one real big trigger.

The wind really kicked up and it became difficult to stay on the small piece we were on. So after a disappointing wreck visit we headed in for some in close fishing.

After a real rocky ride back in we decided to pick up some of the bunker that were in close. Best move of the day. There were huge Bass under the bunker. The action was awesome. Hooked into many big Bass - they would inhale a whole live Bunker. You could watch them swallow them right at the top of the water.

We kept three for the day, could have stayed and kept the limit but what to do with that much fish. The ones we kept were about 36-37 inches and healthy. We lost some much bigger ones and that's not a fish story. It was tough fishing in the wind but well worth the action.

You just have to love the fall.

Great job on those bass. How far off the beach were they?

We started fishing for then about a mile from shore not far from Corsons Inlet. I am sure they were closer though. The bunker was thickest between one and two miles.

I was out this morning in the skiff out of TI. Slick calm, the only ripples were the bunker. I worked over about 25 different pods without any luck. I got as far north as Whale Beach. I had a couple bunker get bitten in half by blues.
I started out plugging in the back. First cast, fish on! It was about 20". Tried for another 1/2 hour then headed out front.
Beautiful day anyway.

Captbill, I have tried livelining adult bunker in the past without any luck. The only difference between yesterday and the past was the weather. The wind was brutal yesterday and the seas were very choppy. It appeared as if the Bass were less shy in the choppy seas. You could actually see the Bass occasionally running on top from school to school.

Fly, I guess we should have weighed him. He is dinner now.

I dipped some bunker below the schools off of Wildwood today, no takers. Your post was the motivating factor, but no luck today.

Good job on the bass.:D

Hey partnership, you are always welcome to come fishing with us. The last time we went out it was a "little" ruff.
