Well we put the boat in yesterday and got out for a little striper fishing but I guess we were to late for the mad dog bite that has been happening in the bay. We got to Tussy's around 1:00 and had no drift so we didn't bother to anchor until the tide started moving. We had fresh clam and bucktails with green twister tails. After drifting for a short while we hooked up a 16.25" flounder just short so he was released (but it was good to see). We then proceeded to catch every shark and skate that was in the bay. I talked to a few other boats that were in the area and they were doing the same thing. After a few hours we pulled the hook and drifted with bucktails to try and catch a few flounder. Well I?m glad we did because it resulted in finding the "day saver" a 36" striper that was caught on a green 1.5 oz andrus bucktail tipped with clam. Go figure??? Anyway I hope the bite will fire back up soon because we are ready to fish!! I?m sure the wind against tide yesterday didn?t help at all either.
We were fishing the middle of Tussy's slough water was clean (for the bay) and about 53-54 degrees. I noticed all the other boats were anchored up fishing about 3/4 of a mile to the west of Tussy's. Hopefully it will turn on again for us!!
