Decided to head out Sun. morning even though the forcast was undesirable. Took a chance on the west wind and stayed close to the beach. Headed out LE inlet through the short-cut going north off the towers. No problem. Caught a few bass in the 15-20" range. Went offshore about 2 miles and came across a huge school of 23-28" fish. We had a blast. Serched some more and landed on top of fish in the 31-35" range. Bluefish mixed in with these bigger fish. All in all, we landed 25 fish between these two schools. Had a great day with a virgin basser on board. He couldn't believe it!

Nice report. Were those bigger fish working the surface or the bottom? Hitting the same metals as the smaller bass or did you have to switch it up?

Bohica....These schools of bass were on the bottom up to around 20 feet. We were fishing in 45-50ft. of water. There were pods of baitfish above them, but no birds in sight. They were not being pushed to the surface. We used bucktails with white hyperstriper plastics. They loved em'.
