Anybody tried the gulp clams with any success. Hard to shell out $6 for those two clams, but if they're like the shrimp and worms, they'll last a long time?

generally speaking fresh clams work much better than the gulp clams,

the gulp clams are not on the same level as the other gulp products it seems

I love the worms, shrimp and whole squid baits....hate the clams and the white gulp sheets that you cut into strips.

Save your $6...go fresh.
good luck.

For 6 bucks you can get 12 clams/24 baits.I think that will last longer, and catch more fish than 2 gulp clams:D

Thanks for the replies. I, too love the gulp shrimp and worms. The clams don't seem like the would have the same shape as the real thing and for the $.....

ive caught fish on more than just the shrimp and worms,

dont forget the swimming minnow, grub minnow, swimming mullet..and other assorted fish type gulps...

zar...I love the grubs too...

but the swimming minnow (black and green) looks like it should be deadly! But I've skunked out using it. Any suggestions?

One trick that some of the sharpies did in the spring, especially in the spring was use one of the 2" clams on top of the fresh clam bait which helps hold it on and gives the bass something to hold onto that won't come off the hook. That way you are never fishing with a bare hook and they will work the hook into their mouths if they are just sucking the baits.

TTT-Tbone,

I had very good success with the strip baits. Always good to keep them in the bag. A couple nights this summer I just wasnt doing anything with my arsenal of plastics and plugs. Switched to a bucktail with a "fake" strip and caught flatties under the lights. If im bucktailing I still prefer fresh meat, however, I did not notice a difference in my catch between fresh meat and the gulp strips.

Dont think Ill ever try the clam but it does seem worthwhile as backup like GD said.

Has anyone hooked a striper on the Gulp clam?

I've seen the EEL prototype and it looks as good as it must taste to the fish, but we won't be seeing it in production until spring. Go with the Jerk shad in 5" and 7" until then.

Thanks Ryan...I'll definitely give it another try. I used it one day with a skirted hook...nothing. I've had so much luck with the penny shrimp, that I never gave the strips another chance!

Guatamala...I like that idea. That way you are assured to have something left on the hook. NICE. Thanks for the info.
