Cape May report 12/16

Well, after we de-iced the boat we decided to head north a little to look for some action, didn't see a thing so we turned around a little north of Hereford & headed to rips. We were pulling the boat today so couldn't really put a long day in. Well low & behold we had the rips to ourselves, not another boat to be seen the whole morning down there! We came up to the first rip and I tossed out my bucktail and it got smacked right away! (missed it) casted out again & by this time my buddy casted his out and we both hooked up right away! From that moment on we had nonstop action all on bucktails believe it or not, we boated over 100 bass in 2½ hrs of fishing there. :eek: Now here's the weird part, once we motored up to the rip we had wind against (incoming - west wind) tide so the boat sort of hovered right on the rip line so we only made about 3 moves to keep us on the fish! What a great ending!!! :D :D
BTW, the keeper ratio was about 35% most of the keeper fish were between 24 & 27½. I did have one on that probably went over 34" but it through the hook at the boat!

GOOD JOB BUDDY!!! I love fishing like that, no one around you and 1 buddy and rods bent constantly! Even though they were only slots they still make for some great fun don't they!! I love when you make that first cast right before the rip, let the bucktail sink, a few slow pops off the bottom and then you feel that RATTY TAT TAT. IM ON!!!! Can't wait for the spring!!!

You got that right! That's the greatest feeling! After a while yesterday you didn't have to cast at all we were just dropping right under the boat & as soon it hit the bottom and give it one pop WHAM!
I was happy as he!! bringing home 2 slots for dinner! I think the smallest one caught was around 14" that one was lucky there were no bigger fish around! :D

Sweet - great way to end the season. Nothing like getting them on the artificials and by yourself too boot.
